Ok....now that BOTH ice packs have melted. (Hard to type and hold an ice pack on each knee. Yeh....it was like that. BOTH knees.)
Remind me next time to go check the course...they just may have CHANGED it in the past 25 years. Now if it was flat before, and they CHANGE it....guess what? Yeh...they re-routed it up a hill....a last-3/4-mile-to-the-finish-line type hill. Owouchowouchowouch....
It was 26 degrees at the starting gun, with humidity to match.
I managed, just barely, to stay above a walk the entire distance. The oppressive heat tore giant holes ALL through my plans of "picking up the pace" at ANY time.
I was REAL glad I wasn't doing the 5-miler.
I'm already registered to do a 5k on August 11th. (Hope I've managed to graduate by that time....lol)

Whilst I love the sun and heat I'm hoping next Wednesday is a cool one (for my race). So good on you for doing it in 26 degrees...guessing you aren't in the UK (or do you have a micro climate where you live lol)
No, not in the UK...frankly, I'd kill for 15 degrees and rain. We are having the hottest, driest summer I can remember. (And I'm starting to run...again.) As my 95 year old neighbor says, "What don't kill you, makes you stronger" lol.....kinda
Dry? What is dry? - we are having mini flash floods almost every hour which dry out in minutes. The humidity is awful! Wish I was where you are where at least it is dry. Isn't the British summer wonderful??
Congrats on your run, that's something to be proud of, especially up a hill. You should feel proud!
That's the wierd thing...our humidity is still running 80-90%...just no rain! I live in the lee of one of those wierd micro-climate heat bubble thingys (lol) ... sucks up the rain before it can get to me
Dizzy at the thought of running in that heat and temperature! And a hill at the end ... awesome. Thank you for your neighbour's mantra - i'll remember that when my knees want to buckle at the end of week 6 runs.
A big congratulations... racing in summer... you are very brave. A big effort, keep up the icepacks! We dont do many races (none i can think of at all) in summer, just too tiring. What country are you in?
Flip Grammadog, I knew you'd have posted on here somewhere about the race but had to search back a few pages already. What a hero!! Knew you could do it!!
