......not run since Wednesday due to shin/calf pain and have iced 3 times a day and was very much hoping to get back out there on Monday to get a few more runs in (and graduate) before my race for life next Sunday. Alas I fear it's not to be. Can barely move fast enough to kick a ball about with my little one. The last couple of days I've had a pain in my knee when kneeling on floor to play/ do laces up etc etc and on closer examination today looks like a sac of fluid. And if that's not enough my leg keeps having what feels like an involuntary twitch then buckles....arrrggghhh.
Sorry to be more moaning than anything else but I'm gutted. Was doing so well now the thought of walking 5k seems unlikely next weekend let alone running.
Any quick fixes to get me back out running? Should I just go for it and see if the pain is more muscular rather than shin splints and eases after a few mins?

I tripped over a bad path when I was on the last few seconds of my first week 1 run. I cracked my ribs I did not walk for a week and I did not start running again until April but today I ran for over 30 minutes.
Please believe you can do it. I really wish I could have done this years ago.
Your knees need looking after. There will be plenty more race for life opportunities. No quick fixes, but a doctors appointment will find out what's happened. Good luck and let us know.
