Hello everyone it's me!

I've not posted for weeks - you know why? Because I haven't run for weeks :-S

So I went on the big cycle, and didn't run at all after that, but then had a few days off last week so wanted to go for a run. My boyfriend "doesn't agree with driving to do exercise" but lives on a busy rural B road that I am not running along.. so grounded as I was I decided to run around the farm house and out buildings. Believe it or not I managed 2.5km of repetitive circuits (tracked by my iphone) although much slower as I was jumping over ditches and running through gates.

Much more successful was last Sunday eve (the day of the 10k here in Bristol) - I went for a lovely evening run. I did my harbour 5k route in 42 mins (so that's 1 minute faster).

The comforting thing was that I've still got it - I can still run - but aiming to do 5km run each week to keep myself going. I have no desire to run 10k so bridge to 10k is not for me. Want to get faster so also will try to pick up some of the Fartlek/Interval stuff I was trying before...

Anyway -howdy and hi and keep on running - I am trying to!

Anne-Marie

Hi Anne Marie

I feel the same way. Running 5k once a week would be fine combined with nordic walking and possibly the gym.

I will try the 10k podcasts when they come out though just to try and speed up a bit. Don't want to ask my poor old knees to do that distance :(

'Free' running is good too just for the fun of it - walking, running, jogging wherever you feel like going for as long as you want.

Great, thanks for that. It's good to know that if you have to take a week out it wont ruin your success...I also do not want to go for the 10k but would just like to carry on with 5k 3x a week if possible. That in itself will be the biggest achievement ever!! :D
