So, what do you do if you need to replace shoes but can't get to a specialist running store for gait analysis?

I discovered below last night and should help. I bought my shoes at sports direct (Asics Gel Pulse 2), if you look at the key features tab it say what kind of foot its suitable for. Shoes seem to be at least 30%of, I got mine for £45 as opposed to a list price of £75.
Even with all this help nothing beats an expert and buying the wrong shoes is an expensive mistake. I seen to have accidentally found shoes that work for me but will be going to a running shop before too long.

This website even has a vid showing the correct way to tie your laces. I do it right but I couldn't work out the advanced way on vid 2!

I've just bought some new running shoes after having my gait analysed. I had been wearing some old trainers to run in but kept getting pain in my right knee. The gait analysis showed that I was ever so slightly rolling my right ankle inwards when placing my foot down. The shop assistant produced three pairs of shoes which had the potential to correct the problem. Follow up gait analysis in the suggested shoes really highlighted how much straighter I was placing my foot. Now I don't get any knee pain so it was worth having it done to find the best shoes for my running style.
The shop I went to is Coventry Runner. The gait analysis is free if you buy your running shoes from them or £20 if you don't. Here's a link to their website:

If you already have great shoes you love but they wore out then maybe help as I was in exactly that situation - I had previously been "gait analysed" and ordered the same make and model as my old ones on ebay and they cost lots less too.They were same size same everything and they were perfect!

That's the problem really, my current shoes are proving unsuitable as I increase amount of time running. I feel my feet being pushed to the inside and then the shoe presses into my instep. I can feel it when walking but it's worse when running. To be fair they aren't specifically running shoes but I didn't want to put off increasing my running til I could get proper advice on footwear as I wanted to make the most of my motivation. I am really enjoying working through the programme!
I guess I might take a chance with some online and phone advice, hopefully get something that will be more suitable and not break the bank that will tide me over til august then check out Coventry Runner when we go away.
The downside of living in a remote location, but on the other hand I am running in a beautiful environment which surely helps!
