Where to start ... C25K probably a good idea

been out of action and piling on the pounds for the last 12 months due to the dreaded p.f. decided to start back with doing the c25k serial again weight has increased to 16 stone and i'm feeling all the aches and pains of starting again, i'm running this with my daughter who has the benefit of being a youngster on her side so when we are doing the running sections she inevitably goes far quicker ... i really don't want to stop running together but i also think i'm holding her back if she runs at my pace... do i carry on the way we are or suggest she runs at her own pace whilst i carry on with mine as i am exhausted trying (badly i might add) to keep pace with her....

Welcome back, oh the joys of running with offspring ❤️The best suggestion I can make is just explain that she's faster than you, it probably hasn't occurred to her 😁

Dads are generally faster, stronger etc during childhood so to find out things have changed will probably bring out your daughter's best instincts. Alternatively she may choose to run alone but at least that way you can choose your pace. You've done c25k before so you KNOW it's not about speed.

Just don't overdo it, that's how you hurt yourself, good luck!

I did it my way.... you do it your way and as Yesletsgo suggests... let your daughter know:) She will understand and can practice some S and F moves too, if she finishes before you:)

I don’t have a younger JCR to keep me fit I have a toy boy(6 weeks!!!) JCR husband who cannot run. So whilst he walks I run away from him for X minutes and run back and then we go do the walk intervals together.

that method may work for you too? Age alone gives advantage you’re far better going at your own pace rather than stressing and straining to match hers…

Thanks for the advice everyone, started week 4 last night warm up walk together, and then we ran at our own pace, during the recovery periods we walked together then ran the rest at our own pace again , worked brilliantly 🤟
