Had quite a year last year, left my job ,finally moved house which hasn’t been successful, my Dad had to be placed in care home the Alzheimer’s/vascular dementia was getting too much to cope with he was violent and abusive all quite traumatic.
I must’ve caught every infection under the sun my running was my saviour until so many infections followed by a bit of a breakdown I then stopped for 3 whole months!! I have kept walking and some sporadic yoga until the start of this year’s 30 days got me back.
Yesterday though I grabbed my kit and I ran only a short 3k but just wanted to see what my body could do and it just ran….. feel so pleased with myself the routine of running is so good for my mental health just got to keep plodding on now and find myself again.
Thanks for all the wonderful posts and support on this forum you never feel alone 💚

It’s really great to see you back again. You’ve had so much to deal with. I really hope your return to running brings you some positivity and happiness. ❤️
Take it steady, be patient with yourself and before you know it you’ll be back in your stride. Looking forward to your updates. Good luck!
What a lot for you to cope with in such a short time. Let's hope this run marks you turning a corner and things improving.Well done for getting through and getting back 😁
🍏🤗Yes our journey in life and in running too can be very rocky at times. We can certainly encourage & be there for you as you get back on the running journey! Are you following any plan at the moment?
No plan, yesterday was to see where my fitness was at as thought I might have to re do C25K but I managed 3k and could’ve gone on but I’m just going to build back slowly.
Had always thought I would do the Forking wine 10k in my 60th birthday year we will see x
🍏🙌It’s so good! Will link you to our graduates chat group. Please comment there on your experiences & hopefully you may get an idea or two about the way forward.
🍏🤣I have been there & done that so knew it was Dorking! It’s a great experience!! We went the day after the Queen & Duke so had the best wines left over for our taste testers!!
Welcome back . You have had quite a time. It is so good to see you back. Little runs will gradually increase until then be kind to yourself and as MissUnderstanding mentioned be patient and just take things steady. Good luck we are all here for you 👍🥰x
Thanks Folkylass just returned ran the same route in reverse which I now know is steeper! But enjoyed the process and the time to listen to a podcast and just be ! Thanks for your kind encouraging thoughts x
I'm so sorry to hear that you had such a challenging year and especially about your Dad's health, bloody awful and unkind condition for him & for you to deal with.
Very well done on getting back out there...it's a real challenge sometimes to trainer up & get going but it does the world of good 😊👍
Hi Wavy-chick, my goodness that was a rough year you've had, so many big changes, hugs to ya ❤️. We never really know what life is going to throw at us and its really hard when its emotional and physical things at the same time. That's brilliant that you've been out for a run, 3k is really fab and it's great you've got your goal in place now too.
Its been 2 months since my last run and the weather is just so cold I don't feel like starting again 😏. I probably need to read a few more posts here to find my mojo again! I must get round to updating that profile pic as well 😷
Yeah it's been so cold! It got up all the way up to zero degrees today and heading to 1deg max tomorrow 🙃 (I'll wait another few days before heading out for a run lol). Good luck with your running plans!
All power to you and your running 🏃♂️ Coming back to do C25K is brilliant and something I did but only after a very long break due to some heavy duty personal life distractions. The legs will still have all the memory after a 3 month break so here's hoping you continue to get the benefit of running the way you want to run. 👍🏃🏼♀️
I had a break last year too due to lots of life events but I restarted in September -it’s great being back and this forum really helps! I really hope running gives you the headspace and positivity you need and we’re all here to support you 😊
Aww thanks SweatyHettie , it’s been tough but everyone has their struggles I’ve just promised my family and hubby that I will be more open and honest as being a people pleaser all my life has got me into this mess but no more. Thanks for your supportive comments much appreciated xx
