Do people count their 5min warm up and cool down into their distance? I am on W6 and I am at the moment.
Question : Do people count their 5min warm up... - Couch to 5K
Question
For Couch to 5k, distance covered doesn’t matter at all (despite the name!) so it doent really make a difference what you do. I think I switched to not counting the warm up/cool down walks once I hit the continuous runs in week 7.
Are you talking about with a tracking device? If that's what you mean, I normally set my watch going as soon as I leave the house, then press the lap button when I start running, then press it again when I finish running. That shows the complete distance and how much walking and running I did.
Hope that helps.
I do count it, I start my watch when I leave the house and stop it once I get back.
I've always tracked the total distance covered. Since I graduated I also track the distance actually run using the Nike Running Club app.
The warm up walk is definitely exercise, especially if it's the 'brisk walk' that's recommended. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it
Once I was doing the longer runs I tracked the walks separately. On Sunday I did 1km walk then 3k (30mins) running then another 1k walk. I am going by time rather than distance for the running.
You can do whatever you want. It's allowed. Your run. Your way. Be proud of all of it. If you're on week 6 you already have a lot to be proud of.
C25K is all about the time on your feet - despite the very misleading title, it really has nothing to do with distance.
Enjoy 😊
