Weird Apple Watch question

Does anyone else use an Apple Watch to analyse their runs? I’m not yet running the full 5k distance, I’m looking at the splits but I’m not sure what it’s telling me-I’m probably being a bit dense here because I’m not getting it. I’m seeing 5 splits representing kilometres 1,2,3,4&5. My question why am I seeing a figure for km 5? Is it showing a figure for the incomplete km between 4 and 5?

Yes it shows the time for the bit you did after completing the full 4th kilometre. Normally this is my staggeringly slow cool down walk!

Thanks, shame they cant add a qualifying distance to show it’s incomplete but at least I know!

I use an Apple Watch as well, I just assumed the split for the final km, even if not completed, is an indicative time, i.e. how long it WOULD take if the distance WERE completed. For example, even though I only ran 0.41 of my final km this morning, I had a split of 8'16", this was similar to the splits for the FULL kms that I ran which would suggest that the above interpretation is correct, otherwise it should be roughly half of the previous kms - hope that makes sense! The Apple Watch activity thing is so darn clever that perhaps it just works out a split for the final km by taking an average of what's already been done?

Yes, mine is often faster than the rest which confused me more

That’s because you run faster on the last stretch 👌🏽

No it’s the pace you ran that last bit at, not a prediction.

Yes the extra bit you did over 4K 👌🏽

Thanks for the clarification, at least I know now and I possibly do run a bit faster on the last stretch
