Got out at 9 and wished I'd made it an hour earlier, so I decided to use my warm-up walk to get to a bridleway that stays mainly beside trees and hedgerows for the most shade.
I'm so happy to say that the stretching and strengthening exercises are beginning to have a noticeable effect now, because my foot and ankle are still feeling fine 3 hours later! Not sure how fast I went - I have a feeling that it was faster than I intended on the slight downhills, but I'm really chuffed at how much better this run was compared to the first week 4 run.
The photo gives you an idea of how my face looked at the end - except I was smiling π

SO well done!!! You are a dream advert for the benefits of stretch and flex!!! Your determination even in the heat is admirable . Enjoy week 5 with its 3 different runs which makes it interesting! X
That was a good run you had this morning grumpyoldgirl, well done on running in the heat, I am not sure if your face was as red as the flower in the photo.
The parkrun I ran at this morning was their 50th, the run director asked as many runners as possible to wear something red, red of course is the colour of the T Shirt a runner gets when they have ran 50 parkruns, there were many, including myself who wore the 50 Red T Shirt, I asked a runner why she didn't wear anything red?, she answered that like you grumpyoldgirl that her face goes red everytime she runs.
I'm sure anyone looking through C25K from the outside would think the walks warm you up for the runs, then you walk to warm down; job done. But the stretches and strengthening are so important - before and after runs, and on the "rest" days.
