🍏The unexpected

🍏Sudden unbearable pain in my jaw had me off to the dentist in a flash… referred to my GP as there was no tooth problem….referred to the hospital where a consultant diagnosed trigeminal neuralgia (TGN) … specific drug, plus morphine & my life has changed in a flash! So dizzy & nauseous I can hardly move let alone exercise or run! Awaiting an MRI scan! How life can change overnight… however if running has taught me one thing, it’s this… it doesn’t always go to plan… so find a way through! I will! Watch this space….

Oh no Annie! That sounds horrendous, hope the scan brings you some answers. I understand about life changing in a flash, it's extremely discombobulating and all we can do is ride with it 💐

oh I’m so sorry to hear your news x I had Menieres for 5 years and yr plight sounds very similar to that x just take each day as it comes, take it very slow and steady , I pray things will get better quickly and I hope it’s not too long before u r up and about again x

Bless u x it lost me my job of 20+ years at the local council cos my union rep was rubbish x I took voluntary redundancy rather than be fired fir having to take so much sick leave but tbh I was happy to go and and much happier for doing so x 2012 to 2014 was a struggle financially but I made it out x I’m very lucky it was a combination of it burning out ( as the hospital termed it) and a diet without salt, orange juice, chips, cheese and chocolate x mad combination but hey ho x my consultant got it spot on there!! last attack was Xmas 2019 so I’m grateful x having seen what it’s done to others (alcoholism, substance abuse, suicide etc) I got off very lightly xx

I assume they have given you Carbamazepine. Have you tried not taking the morphine? That's the most likely cause of your side effects. As far as I know Carbamazepine is the most used treatment for TGN. Hope it settles soon 💐💐

Love the flowers! Yes that is the drug & apparently the side effects are what I am experiencing & will soon disappear according to Consultant. Morphine is for the extreme pain, is low dose & will be stopped as Carbamazepine .. stops the pain.. titating up slowly.vAppreciate your concern xx

So sorry to read this. I do hope you get the mri scan speedily and discover an easily treatable issue. Morphine is very bad news if you don’t tolerate it well.. I do sympathise. I hope it’s a short term measure. Keep updating on here.🤗

Thanks for that hug … 🤗

apparently it’s a side effect of the main drug which will be titrated up in doses… the side effects will hopefully disappear in a few days.. the low dose morphine is short term for the excruciating pain.

So so sorry you are suffering. I had a tooth removed a few years ago, next to a root canal - in similar excrutiating pain. It's roots had gone through my sinus!Look after yourself now, rest up and be kind to you - like you are to all of us on here (dont mean to sound selfish - but we all need your support again when you are recovered too!!).
