only one duck today

Mind felt it was a good day to go out and run the first run of week 8 you know that little 28 minute run just three minutes longer than the last four runs. Did the body, legs and spirit think so ? No they bloody didn’t. First run on C25K having completed twice before with no issues so this was run 76 and we had success we got out there and then failure got to 15 minutes, 2Km down and the gremlins appeared you can’t do this, the legs said you can’t do this and you know they were right we ended up walking for three short shunts not sure why? Not sure if to go again or continue and run the other two week 8 runs or go back to week 7. Will plan later in the week or when I get back home from the agility show.

Well done on getting out Papillion, it sounded all positive at the start. And out there walking is still better than sofa sitting . I have seen on here a few times “a practice run”- a run that doesn’t go the way we planned or would like. Frustrating! But not the end of the world. Tomorrow is another day.

Not to make your day mine - but I shared your experience yesterday. The day before ( none run day) wanted to run and was wishing it was run day. Yesterday R2W7, limbs felt like lead, needed a wee, was too hot - etc etc could have turned around and said don’t bother .

Frustrating and didn’t enjoy it one bit . But I know that no two runs are exactly the same ( for good or bad )

Tomorrow?( or the next day!)We go again. I hope it’s better for us both.

Hope the agility show was enjoyable . 😊

Thanks will go again don’t know where don’t know when as the song says. We are early arrivers setting up one of the biggest agility shows in the UK , it’s like a proper holiday to which we treat it has. I am heavily involved with the childrens club so lots of preparations of arts and crafts activities. My dog retired a couple of years back but the rest of the family still compete, I just judge at some shows and help run kids club at this one. Show starts Tuesday in earnest and it’s the 31st year, I have been coming since 2011. Good luck with your next one.

Papillon17 Saltychip these gremlins can be SO discouraging but you know what…. Every run is a win, every run makes you fitter & stronger… so in the end the gremlins are defeated anyway!! You have had extra practice at that run. Do the same one again after a rest day … start very slowly especially the first 10 mins & then you will do it, because you are ready for this run!!!!

Thanks trouble is I have to fit it in with everything else going on at the show. I am very peeved at my non completion so will have to leave it and let my head clear I don’t often have run failure and so am not used to it. I have had bad runs but always managed to complete what I had set out to do.

As I said in a reply to someone else the other day Papillon17 , three minutes longer doesn't sound like much, but it's actually a 12% increase from the preceding runs. You're also understandably preoccupied with getting ready for the agility show. So regardless of the fact that you've completed C25K before, you probably weren't ideally placed to get all your ducks in a row. I'd suggest you get the show over and done with, recover from that, then restart week 8. Hope the show goes well!
