Euphoric.....but

Morning everyone - I'm absurdly happy - have just this minute completed Week 5 Run 3 - that's the 20 minute one. OK, a bloke walking to work in front of me was going faster than me (and I'll swear a snail overtook me at one point) but I did it! And surprisingly, with a little bit still left in the tank.

I've seen a few posts warning about Week 6....can anyone tell me why? I've taken a quick peek at the timetable for Run 1 and it looks less than what I've just done. Is it a case of pride before a fall? I'd love your experience and advice.

Snails move a lot faster than you think.... :) Well done you.... Week 6 does have the potential to upend some folk but not others.

It may feel like a bit of a struggle ... for some...because after week 5 run 3, folk find it tricky to go back to intervals again and get into a happy rhythm.

That last run of Week 5 makes folk think they can just head on without any more walking intervals... but this plan is about discipline and control in our runs and takes us forward gradually and safely in a very structured way.

You are ready for this Week, just like all the others and you will do it... wonderfully!

🍏Excellent work!!! You are a real runner for sure and snail pace is the way to get through through week 6 too. Glad you had a peek at what’s coming up because then it won’t catch you out! After the thrill of doing a long run at the end of week 5 it can feel backwards, doing intervals again… trust the program… those intervals are necessary to get you fit and ready for the even longer runs coming up and are used by top runners everywhere… Enjoy the challenge of Week 6 I look forward to hearing how you get on! For now bathe in the glory of your first long run!

woo hoo Hidden , excellent, really well done…week5 run 3 is def all in the head…but week 6 is def more physical…my thinking of this is because, after conquering week 5 run 3 we feel almost invincible and the snails pace suddenly becomes Usain Bolt pace…well, maybe not that fast but def faster than you were running in week 5…so…snails pace remains…right until the end!! Then, if you want to practice becoming Usain Bolt after consolidation, that’s the time to try upping your pace and/or distance…or just staying a snail…snails are very wise and can teach us many things 😉 🐌 good luck with week 6

Brilliant advice Mummycav - and spot on. Until I read your reply I was thinking I should try going faster next time - ha ha....but as you say, the time for speeding up is when you graduate. Thanks a million

So awesome to read! Slow running is the way to go! I did my first run of week 9 really slow and it’s been my most enjoyable one so far 🤗

Huge well done to you! Looking forward to following your progress so please keep us updated! All the best with week 6 🖤🙏🖤

I thought the exact same thing at the end of week 5 when I was reading other posts…you’ll be there soon, before you know it!

"Stepping back" just a tad to a couple of intervals really does make a difference. I'm only a month past graduation and that's kind of what I am doing to build up time/distance/stamina. It works SO well.

You're doing brilliantly so far - well done!
