When it comes to quotes that will lift you up, encourage you and make you determined and persistent, and will drive your running journey forward, l don’t think anything can beat this:

According to the NHS, ‘running can improve heart and lung health, increase joint strength and stability, reduce risk of chronic illnesses, improve mental wellbeing, reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression and stress and simply improve your mood’. 👍👍👍😀

I don't think anyone can. It took over 30,000 likes on Twitter. Not a single downvote. 😎

That's excellent news mrrun, many runners on those forums report that they are less stressed after a run.

Some five years ago or so, my son’s best friend told him that his ‘dad (me) was somehow not grumpy any more’. I knew then l was on the right track. 😅

I agree with that, i was diagnosed with COPD 4 years ago, i have a pituatory tumor in my brain, an underactive thyroid, weak knees and oesteoporosis in my left foot after breaking it 3 years ago......and do you know what.....i can run for 30 minutes, am knackered after but boy does it make me feel so good for the rest of the day there is nothing like the feeling it gives me ❤️

Wow! Well done! The biggest problem for many is the initial commitment and learning how to overcome those early niggles and self doubts. Once the benefits start entering the play, it becomes the real deal. You're doing great, keep it up!

Absolutely, thank you so much, i feel like i am a runner, albeit a bit slower than your average runner, but a runner nonetheless and if i can conquer the programme so can others with these types of illnesses and problems

Slower than average? Who cares, you are running for fun and health benefits, let's leave 'fast' to those who stress over the World Cup qualifying times. I am one of the slower marathon and ultra runners, but l CAN cover those distances, and before I started I was a 52 year old chain smoker, grumpy all day, unable to run for 60 seconds without getting lightheaded, injured (or both). This game changes people's lives, and that's what counts. Your speed, your rules, I say! 😉

wow that's excellent that you are a marathoner and how you have changed your life, i don't think i want to get to that level anyway or can't lol, but i would be happy with getting to 5K first and then onto 10K, this has also changed my life as i smoked for 45 years, changed to Vape last year although still not good but so much better than cigarettes, i would also give up the vape if it was a choice between running (well jogging) and vaping, but my lung capacity must be improving alot since i can run for 30 minutes, not long to graduation and i can look forward to the future and who knows i might get further and further

l thought that in these uncertain times everyone would need a little encouragement. And if you go through the quote and check/analyse each part separately, it’s all correct - and that’s the real beauty of it! We should all remember it by heart and repeat it bit by bit when going gets tough whilst running up that steep hill. 😀😉
