FIRST WEEK COMPLETE

I have just finished my first week. Wow. Not a lot to some, but a total of 24 minutes running is the most I’ve done in a long time.

How did everyone find the jump to week two? I’m feeling very anxious.

From a nervous postpartum mum x

Don't be anxious. Week 2 has 27 minutes of running in it (9 per session), arranged in slightly bigger chunks, with longer walk periods between. It's not as big a jump as it seems. Week 3 has the same amount of running as Week 2, again in fewer, larger chunks.

It's cleverly structured and works.

We'll done. You've already done the hardest run you'll ever do - W1R1. I didn't think of it in terms of weeks, just the next run. Try not to overthink it, run slowly, and enjoy it 🙂

Hi  CALP_ , welcome! Congratulations on completing week 1 and on starting C25k when you've got a young family!

If you haven't already done so, please do have a read through the How to run C25K guide. It has loads of really useful tips: healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Follow the programme, believe in yourself, and you'll be all set to succeed. And of course do keep us updated on how you're getting on. Happy running!

How were you feeling before week one? I wonder if you might have been a little nervous too? You’ve made a brilliant start-you’ve done everything that’s asked of you and that’s a big achievement. It’s never too early to be proud of yourself. The programme is tried and tested and builds up gently. You’re ready and you’ll be fine. The link Cmoi shared is a really good one-it’s best to keep all your runs nice and steady at a pace where you can hold a conversation-most of us start off too fast!

Enjoy those well earned rest days and good luck! Any questions and updates, we’d love to cheer you on! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

yeah was apprehensive too, to be honest I put off starting for a few weeks before I actually told myself I can do. Self believe 7 month’s postpartum, is hard to muster together. But I’ll get there. 😊

You absolutely will! If you feel anxious again, you can remind yourself about what happened this week. All of us doubt ourselves. I find it really helpful to try and just have a go-the worst that can happen is my run doesn’t go as I want it to and I have another go another day. That’s not too bad in the grand scheme of things!

The lovely thing about this forum is if you do a bit of searching, you’ll find so many of us have been exactly where you are. Honestly, you’re doing great. 🏃‍♀️💪❤️

You're doing great, well done for starting. Just relax and enjoy it. I have 2 mantras that might help you:

(1) every run prepares you for the next one , i.e. you're always physically ready because of what you've done so far - your fitness builds and accumulates with every run you do.

(2) your body is ready but not necessarily your mind , i.e. the challenge is mostly a mental one because the program is designed to have your body always ready for the next run.

You'll be fine. Crack on :-)

Try not to be anxious - Week 1 prepares you for Week 2 and it carries on that way. You’ve done the hardest bit by starting the programme. You’ll be surprised and delighted by each week that you complete and you’ll doubt yourself constantly and that’s all perfectly natural but have faith because you can do it and you will do it. We all believe in you. Well done and keep posting!

Well done on even getting out of the door, especially with a precious little newborn. Certainly self belief is a biggie. My first ever post included those exact words too but really, trust the program, it’s fantastic, and my self belief grew without me even noticing! I was too busy being proud of myself 😂 Go girl. You can do this.
