38.13 mins to finish my 5k. First time to 5k in a very long time. Very comfortable pace as I kept it slow , slow . Happy with that.

Congratulations to you Rungranny on running your first 5K, sub 40 minutes, excellent, you kept your run slowly and comfortable, well done 😀 🏃🏾 ✅👍

Thank you. ( sub 30 will be unlikely to happen in my lifetime) so I'll take the little victories.

Congratulations! 🥳 I bet it felt super sweet when the big 5k appeared.

Did I miss you graduating again?! The last post I saw of yours was a week9 run2 so I’m guessing you finished! That also needs some serious celebration too. 👩‍🎓 🏃‍♀️ 🎉

Just take a little care not to push too far, too fast. It’s worth spending time consolidating before increasing your run time but totally understand it’s easy to get carried away.

Enjoy celebrating your brilliant achievements ❤️

Thanks. Got injured last time after couch 25k as I went towards 10k so I don't want that to recur. That's it for now. I plan to consolidate now between 3-4 k slightly faster. And 2 x 5 k in the week with 1 being off the pavements. Heading to the forest trails for a change of terrain and build fitness.

You definitely don’t want to get injured again. I bet that was miserable. December seems like a perfect time for consolidation with the promise of January as a new beginning.

I’d just gently question whether your plans fit with what consolidation means. There’s a great post from the wonderful IanodaTruffe here…

Running at a slightly faster pace or including those 5k runs twice a week (requiring you to run a fair bit longer than 30 minutes) will increase the demands on your body at a time when that might not be sensible . It’ totally your decision but it’s worth thinking about the risks.

Sensible advice , I will reconsider and take things slowly. You're right January is the perfect time for new beginnings.
