Well did the first consolidation run from graduating on Saturday and considering I ran 35mns at parkrun on Saturday this morning's 30 wasn't really easier, but done nevertheless. I wonder when it gets easier ha ha.
Consolidation run1: Well did the first... - Couch to 5K
Consolidation run1
Well done. Seems few of us found that first consolidation not as straightforward as we may have hoped. Maybe lacking some of the "buzz" around that final graduation run. I look at it as, took 9 weeks to get this far, not unreasonable to expect up to half that time for it to become more comfortable 🙂
You planning to make parkrun part of your consolidation each week?
Yes I might as well as Saturday is one of my running days. See if I can improve my time, that will give me something to aim for. What are your plans?
Started working on a new playlist. Current one has tracks I like but the different beats had my pace all over the place - mistakenly thought the training programme I tried would have some music and not just some boring dude repeatedly saying "your heart rate is too low" or "your heart rate is too high" -- was no pleasing him, kept interrupting my music and not my idea of fun at all 🙄
Think I'll take Laura on the next one and need to order something to bring phone along for other options. Hopefully will make it to a parkrun in next week or two, managed to find my barcode from years ago 🙂
Well done for carrying on 😀👍
Woohoo. Great job. I’m a week into consolidation and find the mental side harder than the physical. But also hoping that it gets easier. It has its moments but not quite there for a whole run yet.
We’ll get there (I hope).
Does it get easier or do we just get faster…..I’m still on consolidation runs and it’s def not getting easier
Not heard of a consolidation run before, is it basically consolidating all your training and aiming to run 5k?
I think it does get easier as our stamina builds, but we keep moving the goalposts to get faster, run for longer, etc! Perhaps that’s a good reason to consolidate at 30 minutes at the same pace for a few weeks, especially if you have only recently graduated; to allow it to become easier before setting that next challenge; to run somewhere new and inviting, just for enjoyment, forgetting about pace or distance covered for a few weeks.
Well done, I'm starting to wonder if it ever gets easier. Off out for consolidation run 2 this evening, wish me luck, think I'm going to need it 😂
