Well done for getting to W5R2 and for being determined to complete C25K this time?

In what way do you struggle? Is it physical? If so, what? Legs, lungs, breathing?

If mental, what's going on?

Heloooo, had a really good run on Sunday, week 5 run..... Actually did 5 times the 5 minutes stints. Struggled with what seemed like everything physically. Mental attitude is on top form and the running is giving me a buzz. Just disappointed with this run. πŸ˜• Can't understand why. My legs were like concrete. 🀣🀣🀣

Hi Ellischris , it's a while since I completed C25K, so I could be out on my numbers, but I thought week 5 run 1 was three 5 minute runs interspersed with 3 minute walks.

If I've understood you correctly, you did five lots of 5 minutes' running? That alone could explain a lot, as it would take you considerably over the intended running time. It might not seem much, but in percentage terms it's significantly more. Unfortunately that's more likely to hinder than help you. While it can feel frustrating, sticking to the programme times is a better idea for successfully completing the programme.

The other thing might be to look at hydration, and perhaps slow down as well. Oh, and don't skimp on warm-ups and cool-downs.

Hope you can sort this - you sound motivated!

Thanks for the comments. Just been reading up on technique. I actually think I need to slow down, an maybe look at hydration. I will try week 5 run 2 again on Friday.....and smash it!! 🀞

Warning: do NOT try and 'smash it' .

Slow down and take it VERY easy.

Smash it..... This is my mental attitude. Being new to running is a mine field of different information. I've looked at the information for the C25k you've sent me. Very informative. I think I need to just be more patient. 😊

Yes, running and impatience do not go together at all.

Heavy legs is often a symptom of dehydration. Are you drinking between 2.5 to 3 litres a day , even on non running days ?

If I'm really honest.... No I'm terrible for staying hydrated. I'm going to do week5 run 2 again. Run slower and make sure I'm well hydrated. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜„

Hello and welcome !Congratulations on reaching week 5.

Have you read the program guide ?

healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

It's full of helpful information to help you through the program.

You haven't said what it is you are struggling with ?

However, most people who struggle are often trying to run too quick !

Have a look at the slow running video in the guide .

If you are struggling for other reasons then let us know

Fantastic! Well done :-)

Crack on!

This sounds similar to me only a few weeks ago. With the help and support from this amazing group I’ve stuck with it and am now on week 7 😳

The advice I was given…run slower. I didn’t actually think this was going to help but I cannot tell you the difference it made.

Good luck, you’ve got this πŸ’ͺ

Make sure you're running slow enough. Dont try and go too fast. You've made it to week 5 which is brilliant. Half way through!!
