Having graduated in 2019 I then stopped running after illness then just didn’t engage with it again until before Christmas- then I got to week 4 and stopped again as I was doing a really tough course through work. Where is best to restart do you think? Back to week one again?? I think I could easily do week one so was going to go back to week two but I’ll take any advice!! Really need to get back my running mojo….

Welcome back to the forum and well done on your restarting.

We are all capable of doing way more than our bodies are conditioned to do, but not without increasing our injury risk. Sticking to gently progressive training plans is the safest way to push our limits, whilst gently increasing our resistance to injury.

Injury often strikes out of the blue and can stop you for days, weeks or even months. If you only got to W4 previously then you are probably better off starting from W1R1, as many of us have had to do, even with many years of running on our legs.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Not sure this will help, but I’ll be restarting C25k after being on the injury couch. And I am actually looking forward to doing the whole journey including day 1. And if week 1 feels easy, than even better! So I’d delight in doing it all over again, with the anticipation of the harder weeks feeding my motivation.

It sounds like you got this! See you on C25k, I’ll be following on your footsteps!

I am on my third re-start of C25k and I'm taking it very slowly. At the moment the very strong winds are putting me off going out there. I am really enjoying just going through the programme slowly. The first time I couldn't wait to get to the end, to be able to run for 30 minutes. Now, I am just so pleased to be able to go out doing the intervals of run/walk. I've repeated week 3 a few times because I like that one, it's nice and short for cold days! However, next time I must get on to Week 4 :)
