01/012022 the big bright socks 5k

Okies so let's get this shiny new year started as we mean to go on 👍💪.

The decision to go teetotal on New year's Eve was a good plan, hubby taxi for the lovely wife to the NHS Factory, and it meant feeling fresh for a run this morning.

So Weetabix fuel eaten and caffeine levels topped up, I was ready.

Definitely shorts weather as it's so mild, and the chance to show the world ( probably spotted from space) the big green socks 😎.

There's not a lot of passing traffic for the footpath section leading to the towpath, the world's still nursing sore heads I reckon 🙄.

The towpath even quieter, just one boat moored up, it's engine chugging melodically.

Had to adjust a loose lace at the halfway mark think the socks are perhaps a bit thinner than I'm used to🤔.

All good quick pic and off heart rate rested and it's nice to rid the cobwebs off the limbs.

The last KLM was a bit start-stop as I met a few villagers I'd not seen in a while and one keen runner whose fell race was cancelled due to Welsh Ruling!

But overall twas a nice leg stretch nothing fell off 😂 so it's home for stretches and to wake up the teen-agers.....

They're almost as fluorescent as my yellow top!

Well done in getting on the wagon and also back into running. Is it a dry January or something more permanent?

Nooo I'll not need a reason not to drink, I'm driving too often to even contemplate having a shandy!I've seen the results of it up close and personal when I was knocked down but a school teacher 3.5 times over the limit, he could according to the police " hardly stand and was slurring"

In my opinion, the level for driving should be zero alcohol in your body, no ifs no buts it cuts out all the risk! As a rule I try to only have a drink ( rarely) if not driving the next day!

As a light drinker myself (one bottle of ale with a weekend evening meal and nothing at other times) I totally agree with your sentiment.

There was a crash just across the road from us this summer, with a van being rolled multiple times before landing in a bus stop. The van driver was very shaken but not obviously injured beyond a few scrapes. The police took away the other driver involved who had very obviously been drinking. It could have been so much worse.

Thanks SueAppleRun hopefully yep the legs will have a good year, no pressure, no goals, maybe the odd parkrun work allowing, simply running to enjoy the fact I can 👍

I may even take the socks out now and again 😂
