I saw that cartoon about 6 months ago. Wasn't sure whether to post it here.

I'm now at the point where I don't want to lose much more weight. I'm having to eat more to compensate for the extra activity. I went down from 82kg in May last year to under 71kg now.

My BMI is currently 21. It was over 25 and just in the "overweight" range.

Similar results here , although I need to get my run frequency up or do more excercises between runs

I wish I could say the same - I haven't lost a jot of weight. 🙁However my body shape has totally changed and all my clothes, especially bottoms, are falling off me.Thank goodness for home working and the ability to wear leggings/joggers all the time. 😂

I will need to do a mega shop for work clothes once we have to start going in to the office again - my least favourite pastime

I did drastically change my eating habits at this time also

Well done! What did you do to drastically change your eating habits?

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate in reply to Popstess

I used to bake a lot , cakes , tarts, pastries and the like .I gave them up and followed the BBC good food diet for around 6 months

Thank you, that's really helpful, I'll have a look at the bbc good food diet

Me neither! Actually put on weight despite eating less! Probably a combination of muscle and the meds I am on! But frustrating!

Me too! I have a ‘baggy bum’ in everything! 😂. I make a lot of my own clothes so I’m steadily remaking my wardrobe as I hate shopping.

Did you lose that by running? What else did you do?

nowster profile image
nowsterGraduate in reply to Golf2106

Mostly running.

Before June last year, I was mostly sedentary (a desk job) where my biggest exercise of the day was going up and down the stairs at work at lunchtime to get my sandwich from the city Tesco. Lockdown and an easy supply of biscuits made it worse.

I cut out the biscuits and took up running.

I first noticed a change in my trousers belt. It was no longer straining. Then one day I noticed I had to do it up an extra notch.

Prior to that I'd got down to about 75kg just by walking a mile every workday to get my lunch sandwich, but that was back in 2014.

I was back down to 75kg by Christmas and crucially didn't put any weight on over the that season of excess. I stayed stable at that for a few months, then when I started running for 90 minutes and more, that seemed to change my metabolism slightly and I've started to lose weight again.

As a guy, the big health danger is the visceral fat (the stuff that's inside and surrounds your organs). That's not noticeable on the outside. If you're starting to develop a beer gut (as I was starting to do), it probably means you've got worse problems on the inside.

Ah so true! Not sure how much my brain weighs, but sometimes it feels like I’ve lost my mind somewhat 🤣. Tech can be brill and also very naughty - have to take it with a pinch of salt 🧂. 😊😊😊

😃

I started at around 102kg in May ‘20 now 87kg ish.

Didn’t take up running to lose weight, but I need to keep it up as I’m still in the fat category! 83kg is the target….

Hi there! So on the tech theme, I'm running again for the past 2 months. No tech, no tracking, no pressure, just trying to stay injury free. So far it is working. Have built weights into my exercise regime. Going strong and loving my running again. A strange old year, and I'm resolved to run 2 or 3 times a week and to just runI will lurk on the forum and wish you all well. Put on a few pounds, so the aim is to lose them, without battering myself aiming for faster or longer runs at the moment. Whilst I'm not tracking, I think I'm doing regular 5ks and a longer run last weekend. That will do it for me, just glad to be running again at all at the moment! Take care

Hello !Great to hear your running again and loving it 😁👍

Sounds like you have found the best way to do it for you !!

And that's exactly who it's for , no one else !

The tech can give us unecessary pressure when really all that matters is the enjoyment and benefits of 'Just running'

Even posting about it can be pressure !

I'm so pleased to hear it's working for you !

Take care 😁👍

Hello Roxdog , lovely to "see" you and to know that you're back running and enjoying it. There's a lot to be said for running free, without tracking and plans etc. Happy running!

Hi Roxdog Fantastic to hear from you and so pleased to know that you are running again and enjoying it. 😁

At the end of the day your runs are for you, and no-one else, so whatever way works for you is the best way of all. It's all too easy to get fixated by the stats - and we're all guilty of that - and forget how liberating it can be to just run for the sheer pleasure of it.

And Instructor57 is right about pressure to post too - I haven't posted on every run recently for that very reason.

According to my techs weekly summary, I seem to add 1lb in weight each week no matter what exercise i do. So, that’s about 4 stone a year weight gain if my maths is correct ! So glad I got into this running game to ‘add’ weight 😂😂

I can do with losing weight but that’s not why I run. I run because it keeps me sane- working from home was pushing me towards a big black hole. But I have thoroughly enjoyed this post and all the comments 👏

Might even weight myself …

I started running mid spring using the C25K app, finished it a few weeks ago. I lost 2 stone over 4 months - I feel great for it. I now have the confidence to head back to the gym to continue my health goals. Thanks to everyone posting on this forum, it’s been so insightful learning about everyone’s stories and having a laugh along the way.
