W9R3 βœ…βœ… Graduate πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“ 14.6 stone down to 12.6 in 9 weeks!

Managed 5k today (I did an extra minute to get there as I was determined to get to 5k!!). The last 9 weeks has literally felt like a lifetime but it’s also gone so quickly at the same time. Thanks to everyone’s advice, we’ll wishes and support. Suffice to say that when I tried this first time round, I was not using the app, and I quit at week 1 or 2 (can’t remember which).

Not only have I improved my fitness, I’ve lost 2 stone by simply running, no dietary change, just this run and a 30 - 60 min walk on my rest days. On my 5 minute cool down walk I was almost in tears as I’m just not the sporty type and I’ve always been the unfit one at home!

I honestly don’t think I was even this excited for my actual graduation! I’m so proud of myself and Honey for doing this, and getting off of the sofa πŸ˜‚ (even though Honey didn’t run with me today, she has been such a good girl).

Any tips for what to do next? I’m a creature of habit and I’m worried without Laura or a plan I’ll just stop or find excuses as I’m not aiming for anything.

Looking forward to seeing all of the July graduates post their grad runs too! πŸ₯³πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“πŸ₯³πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“

That’s so good on both counts! Not so much a next but to consolidate my runs I’ve been redoing week 9 with each coach. Just Sanjeev to go now! And it’s ensured I’ve done another 3 weeks (2 so far) to try find what works for me x

Massive congratulations πŸŽ‰!!what an achievement:-) why dont you do week 9 a few weeks with as someone suggested different coaches. 30’ every other day isngoing to get your fitness up no end.

I also recommend the free app NRC as they do guided runs if you want a variety.

Well done again!

Without Laura I felt like a naughty puppy off my lead for the first time doing what I wanted when I wanted.

I found it important though to have structure and try and make yourself stick to it such as run Mon, Wed and Fri.

I kept to my usual routes initially and then gradually started seeking out different paths to take to break the monotony.

Also, keep posting your progress on here. We all look out and support each other.

Enjoy the moment and be super proud of what you have achieved.

Many congratulations runner πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸŽ–

You've done incredibly well.

As you said, you're a creature if habit, so make it a habit! Be sure to run 2 to 3 times a week. You can vary distance, both short and longer depending on your time commitments etc, but make running an integral part of your life.

As you keep going decide what you need to keep it fun, do you want to do events? Set your own challenges? You will continue to reap the benefits for a long time to come so just relax into it and enjoy it for a few weeks then maybe hop onto the Bridge to 10k board too and think about reaching a bit further.

Most of all, enjoy your new ability! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜

That is excellent (I needed an extra 9 minutes to get to 5k on my graduation run). Well done you. Hopefully this is the start of something special for you now.

Since starting in March 2019 (graduated May 2019) I've come down from 15st to 12st, so I can also attest to becoming lighter as well as fitter. Since then, I've also pushed on to get to HM distance (which I've done 12 times), so be warned, this can become addictive.
