Week 5 done!

I just ran for TWENTY MINUTES!! The last 5 minutes had to dig deep as my legs were tiring but kept my pace (slow) and when I thought Sarah was about to say you have 60 seconds left she said slow down now you’ve done it! Am so pleased 🎉 Can’t wait for week 6 which is the last week I completed in February before fate intervened!

Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran 🏃🏾 😊

Thanks very much 😊. Yes it will be a bit strange but forewarned…👍🏼

This morning I had an absolutely brutal W6 R1.. perhaps the worst run I've had yet, quite a bit more difficult than the 20 minute run. It was hot and miserable out there, I also should have listened to my body and taken another day off.. my calves were still wrecked this morning. Although, I did end up completing it, I was VERY tempted to stop. Just to be safe, I'm probably (unless I feel fabulous on Sunday), going to take a couple days off from running before W6 R2, I feel my body and my running will benefit from it.

Oh hell poor you!!’ That sounds just awful 😣 the moderators do say this week catches people out because after doing the 20 mins you are then doing walking too.

Yes you clearly needed more rest…we all get caught up with thinking one day is enough but sometimes it really isn’t! Not just because of the previous run, other things have an effect too and it all adds up to not being right on the day. It is demoralising when that happens when really it’s not your fault! Other things conspire to make it not the right day for a run.

You are clearly recognising this and right to take a couple of days…take more if need be! I think sometimes the terminology of the programme throws us..we feel we have to do it all in a week etc and obviously they have to make it easy to understand, but another post I read said don’t think of it in weeks, think of it as 27 runs!!

You have done totally the right thing and listened to your body. I bet the next one after sufficient rest time will be great! take care x

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and perspective with me. You are right in that there are a lot of things that contribute to having a good run. Adequate rest is certainly one of them, a single day is not always going to be sufficient. I was already aware of that, but sometimes you have to experience something to fully appreciate it. I'm glad that all that happened was a crappy run and some muscle soreness.

Good luck on your next run, I'm eager to hear how it goes! Cheers.

Congratulations! I completed the same run yesterday, I was on a high all day afterwards. Most importantly, I think it shows us that we can and will complete this program. 30 minutes isn't so daunting of a task anymore, we will get there gradually. It was a huge confidence booster for me.

Good luck with week 6.

Well done you too!! Yes I’m still buzzing 😂. It’s incredible how it builds your stamina isn’t it? We really can do this! Good luck to you too

in reply toAH21MM

This is a huge milestone and you know that after completing the 20 minute run you are really well prepared to complete the program. Well done

I have just completed week 4 and am quite apprehensive about this big 20 min run at the end of week 5 😬 well done on doing it, fingers crossed I will get there too.

Well done so far!!! Trust me if I can do it you can too!!! I have music playing to help me not count how long I have left which I was doing initially! do you listen to music? And when it got to this week I picked a new playlist so I wouldn’t know what was coming next so the music sort of took over the time running..if that makes sense?!?! You can do this!!!

in reply toAH21MM

Yes I have music playing, but to suddenly jump to 20 mins in 1 go is a big leap and I worry whether I can keep going for that length of time

AH21MM profile image
AH21MMGraduate in reply to

It is a leap to do in one go although all the posts confirm we have already run that in total during a run…but with breaks! I really didn’t think I could do it but by some miracle and Sarah keep saying that’s another 5 minutes done it went by before I knew it. Today’s 5, 8 and 5 was hard! Think I was expecting it to be easy after the 20 mins but I still had to work at it!! However, still great to complete it!!

Just done Run 2 of week 5 and feel quite positive about the 20 min run now. I put a few new tracks on my playlist and that helped
