Involuntary 2 week break @ W5R2 ....

First of all, the program is wonderful! Never before have I been able to run, let alone run for 8 minutes straight. Having completed W5R2 I was so proud of myself!

Since yesterday, one day before W5R3 I am grounded, in quarantine for 2 weeks cause a student of my tested positive for Covid and the local health authority has decided that everyone who was in the same room with her (despite surgical / FFP2 masks, enough distance, open windows) has to be quarantined.

I need advice as to how I can keep up fitness for the next weeks and mental support. Should I try and just do W5 over when I am allowed outside again or should Igo back to another week?

Can't wait to be running again. :-)

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

As stated in the guide to the plan, you lose no significant condition in the first two weeks of non running.

After that loss of condition is gradual.

All any of us can do after a lay off is to go out and see what we can comfortably manage, then build back up gently, using C25k or something similar as a guide to weekly increase.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Head across to the Strength and Flex forum for loads of ideas for fitness and motivation.. everything there...?

If you have any kind of enclosed garden/ space you can get outside and walk/run. In the first lockdown, I used all my garden space and got quite a distance built up :)

Do keep posting too, either on S and F or here, or both it does keep the spirits up.

Read this too...I posted it last year...it may help and have some links which may help... I know you are not ill or on the IC but there my be things to keep you motivated and give you some mental support?

Hope this helps...keep us posted please:)

Thank you. :-)

Strength and Flex is already open in another tab. This sounds perfect! Thankfully I do have a garden and it will see a lot of me. Maybe I can get the neighbours to cheer for me by the end of week 2. ;-)

I am uttlerly determined to follow C25K thru until the end. Had an appointment with the local running shop for gait check and consulting on getting proper running shoes. I was really looking forward to Friday's appointment, so I was really disappointed that I had to re-schedule it to April 9.

Will start with the first week of Strength and Flex today as it is a lovely day today with sunshine and 10°C. ☀️
