Hi! New here - just started week 2!

Hi everyone! I’m new to this forum; reading through the posts I just loved how supportive everyone is on here! So just wanted to say hello!

I started the Couch to 5K last week; I’ve just completed the first session of week two. I have never been a runner and always just thought it wasn’t for me, but am really enjoying it so far! I’ve found the first four sessions difficult but not impossible - at the moment I do feel like the end seems so far away but I’m going to keep at it and hope that I surprise myself!

I’m 24 and have been working from home since the first UK lockdown; so I haven’t been very active the past year and I’m trying to change that. Today on the first session of week two - I found it seemed to feel so much faster than the sessions in week one! I find my run intervals are more of a medium jog however; I did worry I wasn’t going fast enough but reading through the posts on here I felt encouraged that the first weeks don’t seem to be about how much distance you cover?

I did do a 4K walk back home after, as I’m trying to get used to a larger distance.

Would love any tips if anyone has them! Also if anyone has any recommendations on good running shoes - I am currently just using my old trainers but could probably do with better ones.

Well done to everyone - we got this!!

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

A gentle jog is the optimal pace to develop your body.

There is a link in the guide to a post about running shoes.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Forget pace! In fact slow down more as the intervals get longer!

Thank you for the advice. This is reassuring; I think when I started I was focusing too much on speed and distance!

Welcome to the forum K4, that is a very unusual username you have, congratulations on completing week 1 of C25K, take all the runs slowly, you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish, drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration, no running on consecutive days as that could cause a injury, good luck for your running journey with C25K. 😊 🏃🏾

Thank you very much for the advice. I’m finding I’m doing on a run every 2-3 days, enjoying it so far! ☺️
