W4R2 fail 😩

I knew as soon as I started the first run of this session that it was going to be a struggle and I was right! I can’t believe I had to stop and walk the last 2min of the 2nd 5min run! I’m so disappointed! I complete W4R1 on Monday and was fine apart from some mild lower back pain, but today was just a struggle. My lower back was stiff and in pain and I just was exhausted. I’m hoping it was just a bad run! I hope this doesn’t knock the wind out of my sails! 😭😭😭

Don’t worry Noob_Neil, we all have bad runs every now and again. If you walked the final 2 mins, then you ran the first 3 minutes, which is better than you could do at the start of the program!

Try not to think about it too much and get out there next time and see how it goes. Good luck!

Thanks for the support. I will hit the pavement again on Friday and hopefully be able to complete it 👍

We don't use the F word on this forum, please.

This post may help you think about all the variables that can impact on a run healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running.

Haha. Thanks Ian.

I definitely need to improve on my water intake throughout the day! Are there any foods that you would recommend to boost energy before a run?

The name is Tim......my fault for my forum name.......Eat a goodbroadbased diet with plenty of fresh fruit and veg and then there is no reason to change it to undertake C25k, as mentioned in the guide to the plan.

Don't eat any extra just because you are running.

Hi Neil - the guide says to hydrate for your next run (I.e plenty the day before ) some people also swear by coffee 1/2 hr before a run ! Good luck & don’t beat yourself up - just pick up where you left off - I’ve not had one of those where I’ve had to stop yet (I’m on W6R1) but have run a lot in the past and have definitely experienced it !! Good luck on your next outing !! Just means you’ve had an extra run to prepare and that’s a GOOD thing ! Make sure you’re not going too fast as well

Neil, I am also a noob and just done WK4 R1. What I have learned from the posts is hydrate, hydrate, hydrate, stretch, stretch, stretch properly and copy the Japanese slow running man. ( I reckon I could beat him in a slow running race) I was unsure of the advice at first but with nothing to lose followed the advice and I find it is working a treat ( although I am yet to quit smoking but I think I’m close) Like many on here I don’t do social media but am addicted to the posts and advice on here. I wouldn’t have got past week 1 without reading the stories , replies and links. Top marks to all the posters, graduates, administrators et al, it’s a life changer.👍
