Before i start can i put a disclaimer in that i love running in the cold, dark and even snow. Im on W4R3
I got home last night from work and the weather was awful the rain was ridiculous and the wind was worse. I didnt go out because of the weather. I really am enjoying the app and have never stuck to anything before and really determined to see it to the end but i want to enjoy it and running in that last night judt wouldn't be enjoyable. I dont know what im asking you guys for?? Your thoughts i guess on this. Like i said im not sat waiting for a sunny spring day but is it ok? Acceptable to wait and run for the enjoyment? Ps id never leave it for more than a couple of days between runs. Opinions please 😊

There's not a runner on this planet that likes running in windy conditions. Not a single one. I hate it.
HOWEVER... to be consistent and habit-forming, you do need to get used being out in *some* bad weather. If you've chosen to start C25K during winter-time in the Northern Hemisphere, then, you know... it's kind of a given.
For me, there's what I call 'The Unholy Trinity' of wet, wind and cold - it only happens very rarely, even in Liverpool, but running on the promenade there, it can be very windy. Is it 'enjoyable' - sometimes not, but I'm Getting The Job Done and always feel better for it.
The only time I absolutely will not head outdoors for a run is if it's genuinely dangerous, e.g. icy conditions. But when the gyms are open, I then divert to the treadmill - far safer, and i can listen to podcasts, the radio, watch TV etc.
I am a self confessed fair weather runner and very rarely start a run in the rain. Invariably you can still fit in three runs per week if you are flexible and watch the weather forecast.
I arrived at this conclusion after running right through my first year of running, avoiding the worst of the weather, until one early drizzly morning, pre work, head torch lit run, through ankle deep mud, with the temperature hovering around zero, when I questioned whether I was actually enjoying myself.
Running in wild weather is elemental and exciting, but if enjoyment goes out of the window then it requires a stubborn masochistic streak to keep it up. So in the end it comes down to your personality.
Once the habit is ingrained into your life, you will run, even if the enjoyment is diminished through weather, but you are far more likely to continue running if it is a pleasurable experience.
Thank you for your reply, im not waiting for a sunny day but gale force and driving rain is a bit much and i want it to be a pleasure not a chore. Ive seen the forcast and Thurs and Sunday are my next runs.
