After thinking about doing this for a couple of years, even going so far as downloading the app, today I actually got out there and did my first run.
Not feeling too bad, the penultimate jog was a bit tough and the last was slow but it felt great completing it. Weather was miserable but not bad enough to put me off. I do go out and walk regularly so i’m not a total couch potato. Lets see if I manage run 2 ?

Great fantastic and definitely brilliant, let's get you running all the way to Week 9 run 3 👍
Take a look at the attached links for all the advice you'll need to assist you on your runs 🙂, and if in doubt just ask.
Hello! I am a newbie too - just done my second run. Everyone on the forum is so supportive!!! Loving all the posts from more experienced runners. Good luck!!!
Hello, fellow newbie. keep running and I will do the same. My aim is to complete this and then start trail running with my wife and the dog. PS. Maybe I should mention this to my non-running wife!!Stay safe and well, and keep running.
Getting out of the door is the first step and a milestone in its self. You can do this, don’t forget your rest days, stay hydrated and slow down if you need to, even if you think you can’t go slower you can!
I graduated twice (even if i didn’t go on jogging regularly🙁) anyway this program is very useful and will give you the right tips to start and the forum is very helpful as well
That was me. I had the app on my phone for at least a year after thinking about it for a year. I graduated in January as this wasn't going to beat me. Keep going. You will feel better for it.
Hello, fellow newbie! I'm on W2, so I know how your feel. One thing I have learnt very quickly on here is that you should pay attention to what others say - especially the moderators etc. They say that most of us run too fast, and in my case, that is so very true. I slowed down and it is so much easier. After all, it is NOT a race, and weeks/days can be repeated. I'm doing W2 for a second time as I was rudely interrupted by the icy weather, and with discretion being the better part of valour, I stayed put.Together we WILL make it to the end. I am happy to keep going into the soon-to-emerge Spring, and I trust that you are too.
Are you an outdoor runner, or a treadmill one? If outdoor, is it park, open country, urban... I would love to know.
Good luck, stay safe and well and do keep us all posted.
I am lucky to live in the country so I get out and walk in the mountains and forests with a bit of jogging involved mainly on the downhill and when I am feeling fitter. I tend to stop and start exercise but I want to be more disciplined. Many years ago I was at the gym 4 times a week, healthy , fit and the right weight. I will be running on the roads for this which are quiet because I am not up to running uphill yet. !! Thanks for your encouragement
