Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision.

There is basic guidance in the guide below. If you are eating a good broad based healthy diet then there is no need to alter it to undertake C25k.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Hi,

well done on your first step! Running will help you to burn calories and will make your muscles firmer. I’m not able to give proper diet advice but try not to eat more just because you went for a run. I found avoiding processed/refined sugars and wheat based foods really helped me. But it’s hard as I love 🍞

Whatever you do enjoy it! Happy running. Oh and do read the info in Iannoda’s link a couple of times there is a lot of really helpful information in it!

Losing weight is at its simplest a matter of calories in vs calories used.

Running on its own is not going to burn a huge number of calories.

You will lose fat but you will also gain muscle. Because of that in the first weeks your weight will probably stay the same, or maybe rise a little (fluid retention due to micro-damage in muscles).

You may get more trim, with a reduction in the waistline and facial chubbiness.

Just cutting down on sugary snacks like biscuits will help.

I did eventually lose just over a stone (7kg) and have reached a stable weight.

I signed up to the NHS diabetes programme - with a coach/mentor, an app (Oviva) and loads of helpful support. The programme is intended for those at risk of Type II diabetes (overweight one of the major risk factors). I’ve found it really helpful and am slowly losing weight.
