When to strength train

I thought I’d asked this, but can’t find my Q posted. As we know, we’re supposed to take a day’s rest between runs. In order to get strength training yet also get enough rest, must I strength train on the same day as running, or can I do it on my rest days from running? I’d like to do twice a week. Thanks!

Rest days yes. Post or pre running - not sure. Good idea to do this with the weather we are having.

As stated in the guide to the plan, rest days are from impact exercise, to enable muscles damaged by the impact of running to repair and strengthen.

Extra non impact strengthening exercises can be done on the same day as you run or on rest days. Gentle non impact exercise aids the repair and strengthening by boosting blood flow to the muscles.
