Got my first 20 min run tomorrow ... bit scary !!! I am 68 in a few weeks time and am quite pleased with my results especially as I have not run for probably 40 years . I was once 18 st 4 lbs but have lost 4 st over the past 3 years but put on a few lbs over Xmas and the latest lockdown. Les
Last run of week 5!: Got my first 20 min run... - Couch to 5K
Last run of week 5!
Scared ? There's no need lesharles just remember, start slow! How slow, it doesn't matter, we'd prefer you save any burst of speed for that last 100 yards 👍
Well done on your progress.
W5R3 is actually the shortest workout since W3 and the plan has prepared you for it. This breakdown of W5 may help healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
It is not scary, so relax and enjoy it.
Well done for getting this far, we found with the longer runs we started out slower and slower so we were able to keep going for the times and still spend at least the first ten minutes really slow Good luck and let us know how it goes
I did my first 20 min run today ! If I can do it you can. I was scared !! Just go with it and not think too much if u can help it. I have Jo whiley on my app she is fab !! Good luck !
Well-done for your amazing progress! Keep going!!
Bonus: I found I started losing about a pound a month from Week 6/7 without really trying. Plus that weight loss increases to almost 2lb per month after Graduation (admittedly doing almost 120 minutes running per week 2 months after graduation - you can't sprint all them!!!! ) Add in a sensible diet and it will fall off. Plus GO SLOW.
Many congratulations Lesharles, a great achievement 👍🏼🙌🏼
Well done, I hope you enjoy your third run. I will be doing mine on Friday. P.S. I will be 70 in September 😉
You've come this far, you will surprise yourself, and yes, you can do it!
So... how did it go? 😊👏
I will be doing the W5R3 tomorrow too. I’m nervous but looking forwards all at the same time.
Hope it went well -I too felt a bit daunted but just went very very slow and it worked. w8r3 next for me and now really enjoying getting out there I too am 70 this year started running when 58 stopped after 5 years due to injury then heard about C25k and gave it a go, will never be a fast runner but love the feeling running/jogging gives me. Good luck with your journey
Hi, it’s inspiring reading about your progress with your c25k and massive weight loss. I hope you got on well with your run and took the great advice below. I know how you were feeling about it as I felt the same. How did you get on?
Well done with your healthier regime. I hope you got on alright with R3 of WK5. I'm 65 and did that run last week. I repeated it again on Sunday as advised. We can do it!
Thanks for all your support everyone it is pouring down outside at the moment but I will be heading out soon and will let you all know how I get on ........real runners like us are not put off by a little rain !!!
Mission accomplished took it nice and steady and apart from from my head getting ahead of my feet a couple of times ...you all know that feeling no doubt !! it was fine. I notice recovery time is a lot shorter now too. Top Tip ...try and think of anything but running and put your body in to automatic running mode whilst you just think about something pleasant
