Knee advice needed!

Morning!

I had twinges in one knee through the last week of C25k but I rested and applied ice etc in between runs. I then fell on the ice (I wasn't running at the time) and landed heavily on the same knee. This morning I did my first run in 10 days. I ran very slowly for 30 minutes without pain until minute 27 or so.

What should I be doing to avoid damaging my knee? Are there any exercises that would help?

Thanks, I really appreciate it. And I will be careful - I would rather not run for a bit than not run again!
