I didn’t run today as was so slippery and didn’t want to fall. The weather didn’t bother me just worried about injuring myself. Are there any special running shoes for ice? Thanks

Running in snow and ice
I don't think you will find specialist ice/snow running shoes available in the UK............and probably nowhere else, to my knowledge.
The trouble I guess is there are so many different types of snow and ice. Running on fresh snow one thing. But what if it is a couple of inches fresh snow on top of black ice? And then like we have tonight, frozen slush. All completely different! I guess for most of us in the UK it is not worth buying anything special for the few days we get and just to wait for the thaw.
I remember looking into this a while back and there are some Salomon shoes with special studs. They’d be quite expensive though. Our Canadian friends on here will probably know best as they’re used to it.
I’ve worn my Brooks Ghosts the last few days as they have quite a soft deep tread. I’ve also tried to land with the mid foot and just run slower, on snow/grass where you can. It’s actually felt easier than walking on it. Just be as careful as you can. Good luck 👍
You did right. I only came here tonight to see what other people doing in these conditions. I tried running earlier but gave up after 5 mins as it was too slippy. Live in London now and yesterday was first proper snow this winter and was a rest day for me. But for my run tonight it had mostly turned to frozen slush. Some bits fine where I found I was taking much shorter strides and everything level but other bits across people's driveways with the slope perpendicular to my path felt just too slippy hence why I turned round.
I have a pair of Salomon trails shoes with good treads I. ran today and it was generally fine and actually easier on the muddy tracks round here. Trickiest part is any tarmac where cars have been. These are slippy so be careful. Also I ran at lunch time as it was a bit warmer. Take it steady would be my advice. Great fun generally crushing along!
It is dangerous to run on the ice. Maybe there are unique sneakers for this purpose, but I do not know about their existence. Why don't you try an alternative to running? For example, you can go skiing. This is also a physical load, and besides, it is safer to ski on ice than in sneakers. I like skiing because it's an entirely different experience. You are riding, and at this moment, you feel free, and it's fantastic. If you do not know how to ski, then you can start training at a ski resort. The Blue House Skis website has an excellent guide to skiing for beginners. Good luck to you.
