First ever run in snow ❄️🌨

Living in London means that our snow is fleeting (generally) and half-arsed. So the forecast said it would snow and I thought I’d maybe swerve my run.

Then.... I was asked on a post-church service “coffee and catch up zoom” if I was going out for a run. Challenge accepted and I went out. Pavements were a bit slippery so I walked gingerly to the park to run in the snow whilst it was snowing and I loved every minute.

Slow and steady and just, well, enjoyable.

I have only felt like this a hand ful of times but today, for absolute sure, I didn’t feel like a ‘normal’ person masquerading as a runner - I felt like the runner that I now am.

Couch to 5K and this forum have made a runner out of me 😊❄️🌨

It looked a bit slushy and slippy by this afternoon on my walk. You picked the best time. Or I am just a wimp! Glad you enjoyed it.

No one who’s completed C25k is a wimp 😉

I enjoyed my 5.7k in the sun and cold yesterday, though. Much safer!

You’re probably right! If I’d felt unsafe I’d have come straight home and I deliberately didn’t do a pavement run because they were slippery.

I am glad that you enjoyed your run today in the snow, lovely winter weather for a run in the park, of course you are a runner 🏃🏾

It was a great feeling and thank you. I wasn’t sure if it was just me that sometimes (more often than not) felt like a fraud. Am so pleased that today want one of those days. Happy running to you too ☺️

It was my first snow run today too. I haven’t graduated yet but I felt very similar to you I think. I will take courage from your post and look forward to loosing the imposter syndrome 😊

Don’t get me wrong - more often than not I feel like an imposter but when I don’t - it feels brilliant. Good luck with your journey. What’s your next run?

Thank you! W6R2 next. I’m hoping to go Tuesday evening after work. I hope the ‘real runner’ feeling comes more and more for you 😊

The snow never made it to the coast i think it stopped at the south downs so am a little jealous you got your run in the snow

You’re sure to get snow at some point and I’d recommend having a run in it when it makes an appearance 😊

I don’t think we got any last year, but one day we will i’m sure, there have been years we had loads

I hope you get some snow where you live W&S, looking at the week's weather forecast for where I live in Scotland there could be snow on Tuesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday, at least on the hills, perhaps on low ground too, we have already had more snow this winter than the last two winters combined.

We are forecast rain all week, I’ve just taken my car to the garage and it’s brilliant sunshine so it was lovely driving along the seafront and seeing the sun on the sea

Lovely looking out to sea when the sun shines, lovely sunny day where I live in Central Scotland, frosty morning but not too cold,+1C, I have just come back from a 6K walk.

I made it to Battersea Park when whatever was left from snow turned into black ice. Mission aborted. Short walk. Back in the car. Went home. Boo, hiss...

My timing must just have been lucky. Hope you get the chance to run in the snow at some point 😊

A memorable blizzard in Clapham Common will forever stay with me. That was a while ago. And another one in Dulwich Park. Time it right, remember it forever. 😀

Glad you enjoyed your run, it’s quite magical isn’t it. I got my 5K PB in the snow, yet to beat that time, I run faster in the cold, plus I was running in shorts 🥶I now layer up. I had a beautiful morning run in the frost -2 but no snow. There was no one about and it was calm, crisp and white. Thankfully pavements not too sloppy but my chest touch let me watch for black ice. Happy running, stay safe 🏃🏽‍♀️🤗

Just tried to go for a run..... No snow here just ice was sliding around just walking down the road, sadly- mission aborted for today. Well done you!!!

Blimey! Sounds hazardous. I’m sure the pavements round here would have been much the same if it hadn’t warmed up by a few degrees. It was slushy very quickly. Haven’t been out yet today but I’m certain there will be very slippery patches.
