Wk 9 run 1 disaster

Went for first run of week 9 on Monday. Was going OK although one of my calfs felt tight. After 15 minutes running I experienced a sharp pain in the calf and 'felt a popping sensation. Stopped running immediately and as I was close to home walked/ hobbled back to the house. I iced it and kept it elevated. This morning I've put deep heat on it and I can walk on it easily although it still feels tender.

How long do you think I should wait before trying it out on a jog. And when I start running again should I go back a couple of weeks in the plan? Thanks to anyone who replies.

It sounds as if you have pulled a calf muscle which may take some considerable time to recover. There is no precise timetable.....we are all different.

Follow the PRICE principles linked to in the guide to the plan and don't even think about running until you are pain free and have full easy movement of your leg.
