Can’t tell you how happy I am to share the fact I have actually completed W1 despite the fact I doubted my ability to take on the challenge of running several times. The weather hasn’t helped either. On my second run, it was -2c and the heavens opened as I was just about to do my first one minute run. I really did contemplate turning back, but I could hear my Dad saying to me “your not made of salt”. I was always the one who complained when it rained when he took us out for a walk as a child. To be honest, I very rarely go out walking if it’s raining let alone go running! I also realised I had forgotten to wear my sports bra🤦🏼♀️, not a good look!
The information and guidance offered on the website has been invaluable and I would urge all beginners to read this before you start C25K. For me the importance of hydration, breathing techniques and posture whilst running & rest days has certainly helped me complete week one. Not only do I feel much more motivated to exercise, I have also managed to cut down on the number of pain killers taken to manage chronic pain. So all in all, for a person who has always said/thought ‘I hate running’ a very positive start......long may it continue🤞🏼.

I was getting very out of breath in the beginning and my shins were hurting, then someone here suggested that i slow down, there is a great japanese video about slow running on the forum, worth checking out! I was running/jogging only slightly faster then the guy on the video and all pain was magically gone. Also the high after completing first few runs was amazing! Good luck, you can do it!
Running in the rain and cold on Week 1. Kudos. Shall I tell you that in Week 2 for me in September it got up to 24 degrees even in the evening? Different challenges l.
More than half the battle is beating the running gremlins. The more you beat them, as you did today, the easier it will be to beat them again. You will encounter them many times over the weeks, months and even years, but you’ve overcome them once and you’ll do so again. 👊
So congratulations on starting your fantastic journey on C25K. It’s the absolute best and you won’t regret it! 😀
You’re more than welcome. You’ll find these forums so helpful and encouraging. I know I did and still do! Never hesitate to tell us about your runs and ask for any advice you might need. 😀
🙏👍🏼Thank you.....and agree, hydration and stretching are key!
Well done, I too have just finished week 1 and will be starting week 2 on Monday. Well done for carrying on when it would have been so easy to turn around and go home. Good luck with week 2. x
Well done you. As someone who has completed the programme before (and now returning after several months to see if I can still do it!) I can say it is an amazing programme and you will be so chuffed at your progress. I'm someone who has never run for a bus before successfully and is totally non-athletic (think weeble cross hobbit) but I did it and if I can, anyone can!
