Hi there I have been progressing well through the weeks but now I'm stuck at wk5 run 2. Finding the second 8 minutes a struggle towards the middle but managed to complete it. Have repeated this run twice now but not feeling any easier. I am now really anxious about moving on to run3 as I just cannot see me running 20minutes. Any tips please and should I stay at run 2 until I can run it without difficulty?

Stuck
If you have completed W5R2 then you are ready to move on. Go really slowly - (have you seen the Japanese Slow Running clips on You tube? They show really well how slow you can go). Just pootle your way along slowly and gently & you will amaze yourself. I also found it helpful to break it up into shorter time bites in my mind- “I know I can run for 5mins so I can do that again” kind of thing. Good luck, you can do it!😄
Thanks Elfe5 I think it's partly psychological as I've never seen myself as a runner and it seems like such a huge jump. I'll try it slowly tomorrow morning 😁
What do you mean "stuck"?You have completed the workouts, so you are doing great.
If it is difficult, then you are probably going too fast.
Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run?.........if not, you are going too fast.
This breakdown of W5 may help, as it explains that W5R3 is actually the shortest workout since W3 healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
You can do this if you just relax and slow down. It doesn't matter if you can walk faster than you jog. It is about duration, not speed.
I will be doing this tomorrow evening! I won’t be thinking about 20 minutes, I’ll just be putting one foot infront of the other for about 6 songs from Kylie’s new Disco album! I’m not a runner, in my head I can’t run yet my feet seem to be saying otherwise. A high cadence and slow pace works for me. Good luck.
You can do it. Concentrate on deep breaths and slow running and set yourself to go slow enough that you can keep going for 20 minutes. I personally find slow steady breaths was the key when I was at your stage.. and still is.. And I'm now week 8 going on 9. Never thought I was ready for any run but stuck with the plan.
Ready mentally is half the battle. You are ready! You've done your training for it as others have said
