Is the cold air messing anyone elses breathing up? First 10 minutes and i feel like i cant get enough air in, then it settles. Not had this before.....hope its not covid! 👀

Did the same run as you today. Yes it can almost be painful on cold mornings but I find deep breaths during the warm up walk helps me when I start the run. God forbid it’s not ‘C’ !

Well done.

The first ten minutes of any run for any runner is known as the Toxic Ten because for physiological reasons your body does not know how to cope with the demands being made of it........so there is no point pushing hard.

Thanks, ive just discovered on my strava i ran faster. Not intended! I did 12.06/mile rather than the usual 13. Something 😃🙃

Yes indeed. I find a thick buff really helps with this. I have tried two kinds - the tighter, thin elasticated kind help a bit, but I found them tight on my nose. Now I have a thick knitted, fleece lined one which is brilliant. It’s just the right size to fit over my nose without flattening it & keeps my breathing comfy. Great for cycling in the cold too. I bought it from Go Outdoors - I think any outdoor activity shops would have them online. 😄

Thanks! Ill try them out. I got about 10 of them for Christmas, fleecy and thin ones - I shall experiment!
