Update at end of 2020 and looking forward to 2021

Just an update at the end of 2020 if anybody is interested; I do it only in order to encourage others to take part in, or continue with, the journey.

I started C25K back in May and by now am regularly running 5Ks twice a week, purely to keep me fit and healthy. I'm not competing with anybody but my 74 year old body and mind.!! My body like so many others had been neglected for many many years; usual deterioration mainly due to a very responsible/stressful job.

I can not be enthusiastic enough about the benefits of C25K; they are many and significant.

. I have lost nearly 14 lbs,

. My blood sugar levels are back to normal,

. SATS 98/99%, (used to be borderline COPD)

. No swollen ankles, no varicose veins ( I had a "mild" Cardiac arrest in 2015),

. Blood pressure normal,

. Sleep pattern much improved and improving.

. Emotional state transformed, much brighter and not anxious.

One of the nicest parts is that I am now in touch, through Strava, with three of my long lost Nephews/Nieces who are also runners/cyclists. One is in Totonto, Canada, One in Portland Oregon, and one in Hamilton in NZ!! They give me lots of encouragement as well as my daughter who lives in Nottingham.

I monitor my runs and performance through Strava and am improving all the time if only in small steps but continuous improvement is the order of the day.

I absolutely love it and thank Micheal Johnson most days!! What a role model and motivator.

Here's hoping that we can all keep on running in 2021 and beyond.

Good luck.

Wow AlfaRomeoSpider, inspirational indeed! What a year you’ve had, congratulations! 🎉🎉

I used Michael Johnson as my C25K coach too, and occasionally revisit W1R1 and run/jog it just for fun and to hear his voice!

Here’s to a fantastic 2021. 😀
