My physio said I can't run for a few weeks. Hold me.

Turns out the hip flexor pain in my left hip was not my hip flexor. I have mild bursitis, and my flat feet are causing strain to my joint.

I am cleared to walk and do strength exercises so that's something.

I was just in such a groove with my running. I'm trying to be positive but I'm pretty gutted.

We always recommend strength exercises to all runners, simply because well developed musculature supports any joint and allows it to function properly, minimising any unwanted stresses. You will soon be back out there, stronger and fitter than ever.

Thank you, I'm going to work on my strength for sure. I am enjoying it and I like working on overall fitness and health.

Oh no. Hope you recover quickly! Not sure you are aware that there is a dedicated Strength and Flexibility forum on here, and it might give you some ideas for exercises. Many runners on the injury couch head over there for a time!

Wish you a quick recovery!

I wasn't aware, but I'll definitely check it out. Thank you!

Been there! In my case it was ankle sprains and shin splints. Three weeks of hobbling and another week under orders not to run under pain of pain (and another wallet-emptying physio visit).

Oh no, that doesn't sound fun at all. I hope you recovered quickly.

I cautiously built up again from the end of September, using very short intervals to start with (20s run, 40s walk, as recommended by the physio). I'm now at 6.5km as of this lunchtime. I'm hoping to have reached 7km before Christmas.
