Consolidation wk 2

I graduated just over 2 weeks ago (yay), and have continued running 3 times a week since. Does anyone else experience this-I really struggle on my Monday run when I am the slowest, then Wednesday's run is a bit better and a bit faster, then Friday's is the best, easier and the fastest. Then the same again the following week. Do you think Monday is so difficult because I don't run for 2 days over the weekend? I still usually have a couple of walks though. Should I try just running every other day, so Mon, Weds, Fri, Sun, Tues, Thurs, Sat etc?

I think it’s in your head that. It’ll just be coincidence. 2 days off is good. You’d be refreshed after that, it wouldn’t hinder you.

I agree. I think its all psychological. Monday is the lowest emotionally day of the week for lots of reasons

On a Friday, Yippee you can do anything.

Dont worry about it. Your body is still benefiting.

Give it another week or so and mix it up.

Do shorter (15min) runs on a Monday, but go faster. Weds, do your normal run, Friday go a little longer but slower.

Just a thought!

I think it is just Monday blues. Monday is not good for me, either. Perhaps your Friday run is better just because it's the weekend (not that there's much to do atm.) I like Saturday as it is in the light and I have had two days off before.

Or maybe we have not got enough experience to be able to gauge which days or times are best for us.

Yeah, I just assumed that I would have mre energy at the start of the week and less at the end, but it's the other way around! Maybe I will change the days in another week or so.

Cudrik,

After that consolidation period, you'll have yourself a great platform to move on, to bigger and better things 👍

Take a look at the below 🙂 it's a great way to get up to 10k

I just really struggled after graduating . That was back in September. I found I was quite slow sometimes no rhyme or reason and again sometimes had 2 days break . Sometimes missed a run if working away. Now I stick to every other day and it seemed to stay pretty much the same. The occasional run a bit slower but on the whole pretty steady. Then while working away I ran with a colleague of mine who is training for doing a 5k everyday next year and with no effort went from 11:45 mins a mile to 10:47mins a mile on that run. That was 2 weeks ago and I find now I am running around 11:20 consistently.

Saying that though the big discovery is I can now run for around 48 mins and that's about 4 to 4.5 miles and I quite enjoy it. Something I started to get a bit fitter and lose some fat has turned into something that is pleasant and I look forward to and is not a chore or something to be struggled through. Just put one foot in front of the other and look around you .

Monday blues for sure 🤣 well done on keeping up with the running, your doing really well! I outright refused to run on weekends at first, now i quite like it 🤣 so sometimes Monday runs are not even a thing for me now 🤣

Thank you. I think I need to start mixing it up a bit with the days, and I also need to stop putting myself under pressure to go faster and further!! Congrats on your 10k/1 hour run, you are a real inspiration.
