VRB - invaluable encouragement..

A full nine days since my last short run.. issues with my leg coinciding with a virus, so for a full week I even cried off permitted one to one walks with friends. Over the weekend I walked with Mr P, then this morning a 3km dog walk round a fishing lake/nature reserve with a friend. I got home at lunchtime, starving, and read Shar71’s post about her consolidation.. and her lack of mojo last week. I thought - well I suppose as I know an empty stomach is best, I could just try a little run on the treadmill before lunch.. so that’s what I did! Only 2kms.. and a very slow run.. but a run I wouldn’t have even thought of doing if I hadn’t read Shar71’s post at precisely the right moment.. so thank you Shar!

I am now going to start the Garmin coaching plan (paused last week).. one day I will get to that 5k..😊

Sometimes it is hard to restart after a break but at least you have done it.

Good for you - it might have been a short run but you did it! Chipping away at it will get you there. 😀

Thanks Fiona! How’s it going for you? Do I miss your posts because you’ve moved on to 10k plus? Hope all is well with you..😊

No I'm still on Bridge to 10k but haven't been running much lately. Work mayhem and also haven't been feeling great the last while so rather lacklustre in the running department. Hopefully get back to it soon. I've barely run once per week the last while so I need to build up again to that 10k!

I think it’s ok to have a break especially if you’re not feeling too good - definitely listen to your body.. Hopefully you will feel well and start again soon.. I’m sure you’ll get back into it fairly easily as you reached the 10k mark so quickly..I’ve really noticed the impact on my general fitness - even though I’ve not got nearly as far as you.. I spent a good hour or so yesterday in the garden digging up potatoes. I found it surprisingly easy.. and I’m sure a year ago I wouldn’t have even been able to keep at it for so long..

I’ll look forward to seeing more posts from you when you have time and feel better..😊
