Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.
Hi joanne best of luck I’ve started again too as all advice here stuck to the plan and have those rest days , they’re just as important as the program !!!!
Go Jo! I hope your first went ok? I am 52, just hit the menopause, a smoker and couldn't run for toffee! During my first run I cried, twice! But I've just finished W4 and now I feel like I could be a runner after all😂. Do read, and reread Iannoda Truffe reply and also Google Japanese walk run which shows you how to jog nice and slow! It's not a race, slow is the answer to staying the course. Good luck and let us know how you get on
Thank you and I didn’t cry but was near and felt sick and looked like a beetroot ! I will look and read and re read everything! I hit an early menopause and boy it has been so hard to shift the weight and feel fit since! Well done you!
Well done! Congratulations on W1R1. I ached like hell after R1 but then I found the link on the app to the warm down stretches they only take 10mins and they really, really work. youtube.com/watch?v=gL1pVRP...
I started this spring at age 52, having shirked running even at school. I (like many) found the first week really hard.
Hi Joanne, the first step is the hardest. I’m 52 and started this during lockdown then gave up but restarted in September and haven’t looked back. I am amazed at what I have achieved and if I can do it anyone can. Good luck. Gail 🙂
