So I started the week with a challenging 25 minute run, still not 100% sure why so hard, then a much better (slower) run 2 on Wednesday.
Run 3 I thought I’d mix things up a bit & try a podcast rather than just music (as someone suggested) Started fine & really got into the podcast then about 8 minutes in the phone rang. If you didn’t know when the phone rings the app stops (on iPhone)... well I didn’t and after arranging the boiler service I settled back into stride (didn’t stop when on the phone).
As I’m tracking my distance I was surprised when I got the 2km notification and Laura hadn’t told me I was half way, and I know I’m not quick enough to run 2k in under 14 minutes...
Eventually I checked and the app had stopped, so I restarted it and again got lost in the podcast.
Ling story short in the end I ran 4.2km (previously 3.5km max). But in 34 minutes
Tbh I could probably have gone longer at the time but I’m really feeling the aches today ☹️
The moral of the story is:
* distraction is the name of the game
* beware phone calls
* just because you can, doesn’t mean you should
* stick with the plan, I couldn’t run 90 seconds a few short weeks ago.
Assuming I can walk tomorrow w9r1 on Monday and it holds no fear, in fact I’m now certain I’ll get to 5k, just not this week!!
See you on the street.
