W8r3 wow what a weird week!!

So I started the week with a challenging 25 minute run, still not 100% sure why so hard, then a much better (slower) run 2 on Wednesday.

Run 3 I thought I’d mix things up a bit & try a podcast rather than just music (as someone suggested) Started fine & really got into the podcast then about 8 minutes in the phone rang. If you didn’t know when the phone rings the app stops (on iPhone)... well I didn’t and after arranging the boiler service I settled back into stride (didn’t stop when on the phone).

As I’m tracking my distance I was surprised when I got the 2km notification and Laura hadn’t told me I was half way, and I know I’m not quick enough to run 2k in under 14 minutes...

Eventually I checked and the app had stopped, so I restarted it and again got lost in the podcast.

Ling story short in the end I ran 4.2km (previously 3.5km max). But in 34 minutes

Tbh I could probably have gone longer at the time but I’m really feeling the aches today ☹️

The moral of the story is:

* distraction is the name of the game

* beware phone calls

* just because you can, doesn’t mean you should

* stick with the plan, I couldn’t run 90 seconds a few short weeks ago.

Assuming I can walk tomorrow w9r1 on Monday and it holds no fear, in fact I’m now certain I’ll get to 5k, just not this week!!

See you on the street.

I am sure you will be able to walk tomorrow and start run 1 of week 9 the next day, so you are on the last week of the course, good luck for your graduation run. 🏃🏾

Good lessons learned.

Another one is always stretch after every run to reduce aches and improve recovery.

Well done.

That happened to me too, w8 r1, my daughter rang me, didnt know the app pauses, ended up doing 34 mins, but only about 3.8 km, but like you, probably could have gone on further! 😂

I had a call during a walk in week 1 and found the app stopped too. It seemed odd that the walk was taking longer.

We've all had technology failures.

You might need an extra rest day.

Great post Mboutin and sounds like a good run, a similar thing happened to me in W6R3 , I ended up pulling something ending up with 3 weeks on the bench. Sounds like you failed better but if you need an extra day or two take them it’s not a race, we all will get there in our own time. In a time honoured tradition on here I’ll repeat what’s often quoted, ‘ remember back in W1 when running for just 1 minute floored us’?
