Wk7d1 tomorrow and I'm not feeling my usual enthusiasm, 1st time I"ve felt like this since starting, is this normal? I didn't enjoy Friday's wk6d3 and found it quite tough mentally. Any advice gratefully received πŸ˜’

What was hard about your first 25 minute run? Were you going slowly?

I think I was going too fast on Friday. I've done my run today and slowed down which was much better, I didn't struggle to keep going like I did on Friday. Yay πŸ˜ƒ

It happens to everyone at some stage. Mine was for the whole of week 4, no particular reason for it just didn't "feel it". Took extra rest days bit of cheat food and drink, remembered why I started C2 5K gave myself a kick in the pants and got back out there. week 4 took me 2 weeks but now on week 7 and next is day 3.

Remember, that C2 5K takes as long as it takes WK7 run 1 appears tougher than it actually is. Just keep a manageable steady pace and the target is time not the distance within the time.

Chin up you can do this.

Yes I think I was going too fast on Friday. I made myself go out today and slowed right down which was much better, I didn't struggle to keep going like I did on Friday. Yay πŸ˜ƒ. Thanks for the support πŸ™‚

I agree with Hobbler, if you're not feeling it, don't feel bad about taking an extra rest day. Maybe you are overdoing it. Or repeat a week if it feels like the training sessions are getting too hard too fast. As for me, I am a fair weather person. I notice as the days get shorter and the weather gets colder it is harder to motivate myself. What I learned is to gear up! I bought myself some ear warmers, glove liners and fleece lined sweatpants and found I could enjoy running all winter as long as I had the right clothes. I wear glove liners instead of full gloves because my hands warm up pretty fast. I found a head band over my ears covers my ears more effectively than a hat. As far as tops - I find layering is the way to go. Keep going! It's so fun to feel that sense of accomplishment from a successful run. No one can take it away from you. But also, no one can give it to you - but you!

I've also bought proper running trousers that don't drag into puddles and make my ankles wet! I bought a running coat (karrimore) which I wore last Wednesday when it was raining, but unfortunately the zip got stuck, done up to my neck as it was cold to start with. I tried not to panic and finished the run, but when I got home and still couldn't undo it I started to panic (couldn't even get it over my head) so ended up cutting myself out of it. I was like the incredible hulk ripping it off!! I can laugh about it now 🀣🀣. I've ordered a new 1, different make, and will be checking the zip before I put it on this time πŸ™„

I had a couple of days like this but once I got out there and did it I was REALLY glad I did! Ywd the longer runs are tougher but don't give up! You can do it!

Run as slowly as you need to but just don't stop, you will be so happy when you finish it will be worth it.

Believe in yourself! You can do this πŸ’ͺ🏻

Getting your head round those longer runs can be a challenge and one of the best ways, in my opinion, is to find yourself a distraction so that you neither think about time or the physicality of running.

If music doesn't work for you, try podcasts or audiobooks.

I used to give myself a running commentary on everything I could see, hear, smell and feel as I ran, in full florid sentences.

Also make sure that you can speak clear ungasping sentences as you run..........if you cannot, you are running too fast.

Try a new route. Running in a beautiful natural environment is uplifting and more inspiring than trudging urban streets.

Relax and enjoy it, like s child running for fun, not a desperate adult trying to prove something.

I can't run to music at the moment as it messes with my pace, I tend to run to the beat which means I go too fast.

When I buy some decent headphones I'll try a podcast, thanks for the tips πŸ˜€

Podcasts - yes. I think because I'm a pretty slow runner I prefer podcasts over music. Also I'm a trailrunner - for some reason it seems more disruptive to nature to blast music than it does to listen to a podcast while I run
