So finally, after 2 aborted attempts at C25K (neither getting past the first week), with this third attempt stalling for 5 weeks because of a foot injury (caused by whacking my foot against a door frame), I've finally managed W5R3! Was worried I wouldn't make it today, because lately I've been struggling to recover from my runs, but I took an extra day to recover from W5R1 and and an extra day for W5R2, and here I am! Took it very slow and steady, and just kept motoring.
Anyway, what I really want to say is thank you to all your gorgeous people on this site, without whom I never would have made it this far...I would never have understood the importance of pre and post-run stretches and of keeping my fluid intake up. Most importantly, I would never have appreciated how critical it is to run SLOWLY...I now attempt my runs at no faster than walking pace and I've stopped worrying if this is cheating or looks odd! Also, hearing others' C25K stories/struggles/triumphs has been super encouraging! So...onwards and upwards!

No harm on running slowly, congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran 🏃🏾 😊
Don't even think about week 9 . All you need to think about is the next step of the next run which you know you will always be able to do- literally one step at a time! Its what I do on tired days and before you know it the steps add up in to a run and a run to a week and a week to......
Well done! Hardest part done 💪🏻 don't worry about speed that will come with time and fitness, last two weeks of this my times have picked up without trying just because the course has made me fitter and built up my ability to run from zero to 30 mins.
Yes, I've come to realise that if I'm to finish C25K (with its goal of running 3 times per week), then running super slow is critical...it was running too hard and too fast that forced me to abandon the programme previously. I've accepted that these initial weeks are about building strength and stamina, and that speed will come later. Good to hear that your times have picked up without much effort...I find that very encouraging!
