W5r3 done! How far can I go, I wonder?

I'm so pleased, did my W5r3, yesterday! I ran quite slow as I felt I maybe wouldn't last otherwise. Two established runners ran with me and that helped. I'm an older runner and although I'm going to try, wonder if my body will allow me to get to the end - my head will no doubt, but hope the body obliges. Anyone else of similar age (60's) have such thoughts, especially when dealing with arthritis - can we go all the way?

You can go all the way and beyond! Sounds like you're doing just fine. I'm nearly 61, started just before my 60th birthday and have arthritis in both knees. I took about 12 weeks to complete the programme because I took extra rest days mainly.

You will be fine - keep it slow and steady. There will be very few limits to what you can achieve. I'm not showing off, but I can now run over 10k and never thought that was possible. It's pretty slow, but running is the live of my life now!

Thank you Roxdog. You have obviously done very well, especially with the knee issue. I will keep going slow but steady, although tbh I feel like running as fast as I can just to see what's in the tank! That will have to wait until I'm a graduate. 🤞

Definitely keep it slow for now. You can climb the heady heights of faster running later on (although everyone's fast is different).

Congratulations to you Raisemeup (love your username) on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, once you run that you know that you will graduate in around 4 weeks time, however, you can repeat any runs or weeks if you wish to.

Having arthritis makes your achievment more remarkable, well done.

Onwards and upwards to runs 1 and 2 of week 6 which are back to interval walks and runs, once they are over from run 3 of week 6 it's all non stop running until you graduate with run 3 of week 9.

Well done for getting to wk 5 run 3, landmark run! Absolutely you can go all the way. It's surprising what us oldies can do. I'm 66 and there are people older than me who've achieved amazing things. Trust the programme, trust your body, go for it! 🏃‍♀️🏃💥

Just be aware that Week 6 can be a surprise. You're back to intervals, and the sessions get longer overall.
