I felt like I had let myself down tonight for the first run of week 5 but it was soooo wet and I was afraid of slipping on leaves 🍁 a lot! Posted earlier about something else but was very disappointed 😞 in the response so not sure how I feel in continuing - it seems the replies only come if you put a really interesting and quirky message with pictures etc - #feelingdownhatethisweather
Didn’t brave the rain ☔️ tonight : I felt like I... - Couch to 5K
Didn’t brave the rain ☔️ tonight
As I said in replying to the other post, rest up a couple of days and see if your hip discomfort improves.
How's your running form? Are you landing on your heels? That can transfer the impact up through the joints. Have a look at this:
Did you let yourself down Alisonjb????? Nooooo certainly not, given your earlier posting regarding the hip/groin pain why risk a slip, brush it off get back in your trainers, you'll leave this blip behind you 👍 you'll be so glad you completed C25k
Weather forecast in London is for dry weather for the next 7 days. It can't rain every day wherever you are.
It will get better.
Can't help with the leaves, but they certainly makes me run slower! So not such a bad thing.
Sounds like you made a sensible call to rest another day. Please don't be hard on yourself, I can't help with any advice, but you've come so far so don't let a set back put you off. Set a new alarm for your next run and keep feeling excited. Promise you will feel great accomplishing the next run.
You did the right thing by the sounds of it (I didn't see the post about the hip pain). There will be another day. You've come this far. You can do it. You'll be disappointed in yourself if you don't carry on. Think how great you'll feel when you do another couple of runs. Sometimes it just is really tough. I think we have all wondered if we can do this thing, if we can become a runner, but this programme is amazing! The key thing is to deal with the gremlins in your head. Your body will be able to do what is needed, albeit if you need extra rest days to deal with an injury then you need to listen to your body.
Please do post again and let us know how you got on with your next run
Don’t worry about your posts being captivating or not, the most you can hope for is that you motivate or encourage just one other person and if not at least you’re reaching out and putting yourself out there. I don’t think my posts are that interesting sometimes but it doesn’t stop me.
As for letting yourself down?! No you certainly haven’t, you’re on W5 that’s about 1/2 way through this program. You should be so proud if yourself getting this far! 👍👍👍
Give yourself the time to run again when you can, you can go a couple of weeks without having to redo any weeks but can if you want to. Good Luck Alisonjb and Good (Safe) Running!
Aww don’t think that at all! Please don’t give up!
You’re doing great 👏👏 week 5!
I worry about slipping on leaves too ... I can’t afford to fall cos I’ve got osteoporosis 👎
Keep posting! I put all kinds of silly stuff on but it keeps me motivated ... I get loads of replies but I think it’s cos people get used to seeing your name up... that’s all.
going into Winter isn’t the best really but exercising will release happy stuff in our head ( dunno what they are called 🙈🤷♀️)
Keep smiling lovely - and when weather improves you can get out there 👍
Typical for me - it’s a lovely day today but I wasn’t planning a run! 🙈
Stick with it Alisonjb no need to feel disappointed, it sounds like you did the right thing, safety first, I had a fall few weeks ago, not nice. You’re on week 5, so you’re doing great 🏃♀️👍
