I wonder if anyone has top suggestions for really lightweight rain wear - jacket particularly. I think I’m going to need something ☔️☔️☔️ thank you

The thing with rain is that you won't find a total rain proof jacket for running. If you did you'd start sweating so hard after a few minutes, you'd stop the run. If the weather is mild like this, I simply get wet. In the winter I'll avoid heavy rain for obvious reasons. The best idea is to either google running jackets/tops or visit a good running shop and try them on.

Thank you. I suspected that was the case but I thought I’d ask! I’ll get a cap to keep my glasses a bit protected and just get wet. I get really hot anyway 🥵

As I do long distance running I sometimes drive to various spots where I try out new routes. However, if I know it will be wet I'll plan my mileage so that I can start and finish my run on my doorstep. You don't want to end your run wet and away from home. In just a few minutes you'll start cooling down at an alarming rate, and you certainly want to avoid that in wet clothes. As for the glasses, well, we're both stuck. They WILL get wet, cap or not. Especially with a side wind. But you'll get used to it quickly. 😉

I got a bright yellow cycling jacket from Aldi last time they were in - it’s great for getting to a run or if the weather is really bad. Mostly I just get wet though

I did similarly, although it was a Karrimor one from Sports Direct (I know, I know) for me. In truth I hardly wear it (mostly just for the 'milling about' bit at the start of Parkrun. Remember Parkrun? 😞. I discard it in the box before running).

I have a bright yellow Ronhill jacket. It's very lightweight so fine for a shower but not for a downpour. If it's warm enough, I just get wet.

I also have a ronhill jacket. I use it most to keep really cold winter winds out. In fact, I've been known to run in the rain with it still tied round my waist!

I love running in the rain - you can only get wet once, as my mother used to say.

I have a Muddy Fox cycling jacket. It is very lightweight, has a back pocket in the sip down bit over my backside, was cheap from Sports Direct’s sale and is bright pink, so highly visible. It has no hood, but I hate covering my head when I run. Rain is only water, after all and I would rather be able to sweat through my head and shower afterwards.

Looks good 👍 is it true to size?

I’m a 10-12 and I went for 12 so I can wear a couple of layers underneath if necessary. The fit is good. I’ll send you the article that I found in the Independent which reviews several jackets including this one. The article says that it is short which is true...so if you’re concerned about getting a wet bum you might want to go for a longer one.
