W9R1 - Outpaced by a walker 😱

β€’24 Replies

I was ready for this run today, in fact I was ready for it yesterday. Legs had recovered nicely over my two day break so I felt I was ready to give them a workout again....

6C here in Prestbury this morning and I knew I'd need a layer starting off. But there's something about these cool, fresh mornings that I just love!

Did a good warm up and off I went.

Spotted a walker in front of me and I thought okay, I'll overtake him and show him who's boss.

Fat chance of that!!!

He managed to stay in front of me for a whole mile and a half which seriously got my goat!! 🀬

I couid feel his smile even though I was behind him. His cheesy grin spread into his back and was jeering at me the whole time.

Much as I tried to grab that smile off his back I couldn't. He even turned round a couple of times and smiled some more!!!

Fortunately he went off down another track and I was able to enter the racecourse fields and regain my composure. Only I didn't. I think I was still quite miffed but it did spur me on and I did manage to overtake some other walkers.

Never did clap eyes on the Bolt Wannabe walker again but I did end up having a cracking run as a result!

The furthest I've done distance wise is 2.78m and today I managed the full 3 miles so I'm happy with that. I don't think it's quite 5km but it's close enough.

Time for a nice coffee and some breakfast and gratitude for a good start to the week.

Thinking of you all this morning wherever you are in the country. Wrap up warm, find your inner warrior and go smash those runs.

Xxxx

Amazing!!! I did that too (ran more slowly than a walker) last week - very annoying! Still... we are doing this πŸ‘

Well done Burkey, just think how far you have come.

I think I read that only 10% of graduates reach 5k in week 9. I have just finished week 8 at 3.6k so will not reach 5k, however I feel so much fitter and can run without stopping to catch my breath.

You’re doing great πŸ‘πŸ»

That 42 mins includes the warm up/cool down walks?

For reference: 5km is 3.11miles.

Your pace is great and better than what I achieve on most runs. Regardless of pace, you should be very pleased that you managed to run 12 minutes longer than you needed to and you've still got 2 more runs to go. My final run was awful and I struggled to do 30 minutes compared to the previous 2 runs.

Very well done. When you planning on finishing it?!

A good run for you !

Oh Prestbury ! I know Prestbury !

I used to live in Poynton and I remember I nice little pub in Prestbury village i used to go to for a meal in the evening (can't remember it's name though ) 😁

Haha, the walker made me laugh , I bet you were glaring at him πŸ˜‚

Well, just 1 hour to Graduation πŸ˜πŸ‘

Brilliant! Only 2 more to go. On one of my Week 8 runs I had a dad with a pushchair run past me. Made me smile to myself! You’re not far off 5K which is great!

You’re doing so well, amazing you only have 2 more runs to go πŸ‘

Let’s hope that one day you see the β€˜cheesy grin’ man again and go cruising past him πŸ˜‚

Am so excited for you lot graduating this week πŸŽ‰πŸ˜Š

Thank you Cazza ❀️

It feels like it's gone so quickly now that I'm here.

I seem to be having a day of pondering 'what comes next' in all areas of my life right now.

But if I can complete this programme then it makes me optimistic for the rest of my future xx

Yes, you have so much going on and I really hope some fantastic job opportunity comes along for you πŸ™ For me, I needed this as much as giving me something to really focus on as anything else, and it’s certainly done that. For you too 😊 but for different reasons.

You sound so much stronger, determined and self confident than you did 9 weeks ago... amazing what this programme has helped us all with, in so many unexpected ways.

You will complete the programme, and very soon πŸ˜… can’t wait 😁 xx

Well done Carli, keep up and you'll get to 5km sooner or later. The important thing is that you are running for 30minutes. The other guy was only walking, too easy !!!!

Well only 2 runs to go 😳 I do think you’ll hit that 5k soon too πŸ‘

Bolt Wannabe..! 🀣🀣 Oh man, that would have driven me crazy too! I sometimes turn on my heel when I see walkers, particularly the speedy looking ones 🀨

β€’ in reply toacountrycabbage

Haha he really did annoy me! I swear he speeded up on purpose. I really really wanted to overtake him but I knew if I pushed it too hard I'd never finish and use up all my puff!

Frustrating as hell πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I really hope, when you’re super speedy in a few months time, you will spot him again, whizz passed and then stand in front of him and do Bolt’s victory β€˜dab’ pose! (Did I spell that right? Is it an emoji yet? I’m not down with the kids enough to know) 😁

Well done on your run.

It made me smile reading about the Walker! I’ve been in a similar situation on quite a few occasions where I don’t catch up with a Walker or that it takes so long to overtake walkers!!

Good on you - enjoy your last run !! ...... x
