Final reminder to self: don't take dog

Week 5 run 1 today - I was ready! My little dog needed some exercise so I thought, I'll take him again. What's the worst that could happen?

5 minute warm up walk, had to drag him along, constantly looking longingly back at the house. We get to the woods where I run and after a while he's off the lead free to roam around, far from the roads. Normally he'll run with me, or slightly behind, or even slightly ahead of me! But today he's not feeling it (we've all been there). He's standing his ground staring at me, then all of a sudden he turns around and starts running home.

Anyone with a belligerent dog like mine will know that chasing him is the worst thing you can do, but calling him equally does nothing once his mind's made up. So long story short my run turned into a half sprint / half walk weaving in and out of toads, stopping cars, shouting/calling/begging/coaxing and desperately trying to capture my fleeing dog 😭 managed to finally catch him about a minute from my front door only to realise I'd lost my earphones in the chase. I retraced my steps with belligerent dog in tow but they're gone. My "run" on Strava looks like silly string.

TLDR: that was not a successful run! Guess I'll be starting week 5 again tomorrow...

Indeed! And just like that, we're out of sync! How was the first run of week 5?

I've just written a big long post. It was ok. Need to run a flatter route though!

Had to laugh, but a bit of a disaster really. Your dog was giving you clear signals that it didn’t want to go out! Best of luck for tomorrow. I didn’t exactly struggle with R1 but I think I set off too fast. No real danger of stopping, but not much left at the end.
